Attack of the Killer Desserts

I had not one, but TWO desserts tonight. First we ate out at Rumbi’s. It’s SOOOooo yummy. I checked out the points beforehand and decided on the Carribbean Salad. According to DWLZ it is 16.5 points. I ate most of it, but only half the dressing

and none of the rice. I counted 14 points to be safe. So then we had their FABULOUS key lime pie. I wanted a whole slice, but limited myself to 1/2. I am not sure the exact points on that, but counted it as 5.

Later we went to the city fireworks. We brought the mutt along. It’s the first time Indy has been to Fireworks and he did not like them. Poor thing - shook like a leaf the whole time. He seems to have recovered nicely though. Well, so we’re driving home and hubby says, let’s get ice cream. So we pull into a fast food place and I ordered the small Hot Fudge Sundae. This place is local, so no nutritional info, but I counted 7 points because that’s what McD’s sundae is.

Two desserts in one night. Definitely more than I needed or planned, but I used my weekly points and will spend the rest of my weekend guilt free. ;)

I’m Still Fat?

I’m still fat? Does anyone else have those moments when you look in the mirror and go - “OHMYGOSH, I’m still fat?!?” I think I allow myself to get into these moments of euphoria because the scale says I’m down 12+ lbs and some of my clothes are fitting again and I’m down a belt loop. But then it hits me that I’m still overweight. It’s like a reality check that says - yeah, you’ve lost some weight, but you’re still fat and you have a ways to go.

Yesterday I was shopping online for a bathing suit (Hawaii countdown 45 days! ) and was so disappointed that according to one site, I am still a PLUS size. GRRrrr…. I was mad because this cute suit I wanted (called a shortini LOL) only came in the regular sizes. I know I can’t expect too much too soon, but I can’t wait for the weight loss to catch up to catch up with my deluded mind that tells me I’m getting thin. sigh…

Anyhoo, I haven’t taken my measurements or a photo since the last week of May. I was going to do it monthly, but I’m a few days overdue. TOM came on the date I planned to do pictures and measurements, but I didn’t feel like doing it when I felt bloated. I’ll do it on July4th and post the (*hopefully encouraging*) results. By The Numbers #

Anyone else feel like their live revolves around numbers lately? Here are some of the numbers swirling around in my head:

5 - number of points in the 1 “snack” bag of chips I ate today… why?!?

24 - My target points for the day (for 7.6 more lbs)

16 - Number of weeks I’ve been on plan (woo hoo!)

14 - the size of jeans I am hoping to fit into S00N!

7 - the number of weeks left until I go to HAWAII!! (working to be at my 10% by then)

0.9 - the amount of weight I’ve lost the last 3 weeks in a row.

I have a love/hate relationship with the numbers. Without them, I would still be 29 yrs old and 50 lbs overweight. With the numbers, I am learning how to eat the right foods, in the right portions, and to set and meet realistic goals. I am still overweight, but becoming less so with each day. Without the numbers, I would still feel like I was spiraling out of control and watching my body become something that the didn’t represent the person I feel like inside. The numbers are there every day. Sometimes they betray me and taunt me elude me. Other times, they seem to magically appear or to go the direction I want them to go. I need the numbers. The numbers are helping me get to where I want to be. Hope your numbers are taking you where you want to go to.

I’m a Computer Addict

My husband is rebuilding / reinstalling my computer and I am going crazy because all myinternet favorites are saved there as well as my food journals, and Progress template. I *love* using excel to track my eating and my WI’s and I am lost with out it. It’s only been 24 hrs! I am trying to remember what I ate yesterday so I can journal it. I can hardly remember. This reminds me how important it is for Me to journal everything -preferably BEFORE it goes into my mouth. Tuesday’s Menu:

Where’s your blog?

I’m trying to get the hang of this new blog. I have to admit, I am not a big fan of change. I liked how my old blog was set up and how I could easily edit my food journal tables by copying and pasting. I know I will figure this one out, but I’m not very partient either :) This week has been a rough one. I let 6 days go by with no real exercise to speak of, went over on my Weekly Points and cooked navajo tacos for dinner tonight (scones.) I really depend on this blog to keep me accoutable. Sorry there isn’t much more exciting to write than that. I am going to work on getting this figured out and then be back with my menus and hopefully adding some archived stuff from the old site. Hope everyone else is doing well. If you don’t see your blog linked to mine, please leave me a message and tell me where it’s at so I can add you and visit. Thanks!

I’m Back!

I’m Back!

I was so sad to lose my weight loss blog at Weight Watchen. com. I think that blogging has really helped me to stay on the WW plan and the accountability has been motivating. I also appreciate the visits and encouraging words from others and look forward to reading others’ blogs. I will try to import my cached info from the other site, but for now .. here I am and I’m back and blogging and *hopefully* losing!

Am I really hungry or is it the Shoulder Devil?

So I was starving all day today - I mean like I felt famished and after eating, I still wanted more. I’m wondering if it’s because of how much I ate last night? I don’t know, like maybe my stomach got stretched out or somthing?

It started after my 40 minute walk with the mutt this morning. I got home and I was so hungry! I had what is normally a filling breakfast for me, but by lunch I was starving and it continued the rest of the day. I tried to keep it in control, but with leftover brownies and an open bag of Baked Lays on the counter I kept snacking. So.. I’m over points today (well, dipped into flex by 4 after eating my AP’s).

I have been doing so great, but I honestly felt some of the self-doubt that I’ve always experienced creeping in. Like that little devil on your shoulder that says, “why are you depriving yourself.. you know you’re not going to stick with it anyway.” Grr… stupid shoulder devil. I want my shoulder angel back - the one that cheers me on and reminds me that the capris I’m wearing were too tight just 4 weeks ago.

I Know Why it’s Called the Quesadilla "Explosion" Salad

I love the Quesadilla Explosion Salad at Chili’s. It’s not the healthiest option with it’s cheese and tortilla strips, but I usually only eat half and the dressing is so flavorful, I barely use any of it. I just dip my fork into the dressing then into the salad rather than pouring it on top.
Well .. tonight I am feeling like I am going to explode because I ate more of the salad than I normally do (about 3/4 of it). PLUS the garnish cheese quesadilla triangles on the side… PLUS chips and salsa… I told myself I was going to ask them to hold the triangles, but the waiter seemed like it could have been his first day and we were a big group (bday party) so I didn’t.
Right before we went I donated blood. I skipped the Red Cross “snacks” since we were headed out to eat, but by the time everyone got there and our slow waiter got us served I had waited way too long to eat and was really hungry and light headed - which is why I also had too many chips with salsa. Thanks to my Chili’s Disaster, I now feel like I’m going to explode.
Well, I used nearly all my flex points for the week which wasn’t the intention. :p Just means I’ll have to be extra careful this weekend. Wish me luck..
