I was feeling really snacky today. I was worried I would go over points, but counting the activity points I earned, I think I ended up breaking even. I tried
Roni’s Whole Grain Pancakes tonight for dinner. They were fabulous. Since it was dinner I had more than I would’ve for breakfast. They were great with diced strawberries and a little fat free Cool Whip
I have gone back through my journals since I started keeping track (about 8 weeks worth.) I can see why I have been losing so slowly. I have rarely stayed within my points and now I have 3 days in a row. (yay me!) I think part of it has just been getting into the mode of counting points and figuring out how many points are actually in things I eat. Its nice because now I have points memorized for a lot of my regular foods. So when I know I have only 5 points left for dinner, I automatically have a list of things to choose from that I like because I can go back through my food journals and find something in that range. For me that is one of the key things. I have figured out what things I like that keep me in my points range and I have them a lot. I pre-plan how many points I’m going to have for meals and snacks and what I’m going to eat. I am headed to Hawaii in about 11 weeks and I fully expect to be at my 10% goal by then!
Here’s todays menu: (not enough veggies, but at least on target for points)

On plan two days in a row after my Memorial Day disaster and it feels great. I wore a pair of capris today that were too tight a few weeks ago. They were pretty comfortable today and hopefully fit even better in the next few weeks (or even better, they will be too loose and I’ll have to go shopping!)
I have one point left and I could use a snack before bed, but I can’t think of anything that sounds good… maybe some strawberries.
Here’s my menu from today:

I didn’ plan to go over on points today.. in fact, nothing went as planned and I am feeling really bummed about my choices today. I know that one bad day isn’t an excuse to make more bad decisions so I am determined to make tomorrow a good day.
My plan for today was to wake up and exercise and to try a whole wheat waffle recipe. Well, my mother-in-law called this morning and told me she wanted to take me birthday shopping. We have a great relationship and we’ve had to reschedule this shopping trip twice already so I said sure, and when did she want to leave. She wanted to leave soon which meant I didn’t have time for pancakes or my workout. Then, after we shopped she suggested lunch at one of two places - neither one a place where I knew I could get something easily in my points range, so I picked the one I thought I could get a turkey sandwich at. Well, we pulled in and they were closed so we ended up at the other place - a mexican restaurant that is fabulous, but with nothing on the menu that is WW friendly. I got a salad that still cost me 13 points. I had wanted to have a low-point lunch because I knew we were having a barbecue that evening. I ended up doing ok point-wise on dinner, but then the desserts came out and I am just mad at myself for what I did. Half my weekly points gone the first day! :p
Here’s the menu (cue ominous music):

My husband and I love movies. We go to the drive in or the regular theater nearly once a week during the summers. Last night my husband dragged me to an 11:00pm showing of Pirates of the Caribbean III. I fell asleep during the last half of the movie, but during the first half we split a medium sized popcorn (probably not 1/2 & 1/2 though because my husband isn’t a great sharer

) We never put the exra butter on it, so I wonder how many points it is? The WW book says 1 pt per cup, so I estimated 4 pts for my popcorn last night.
One thing I did do was bring my 0 point drink. I know you arent supposed to bring outside food into the theaters.. (Shh..don’t tell), but our local theater has these refillable mugs you can buy and then get their drinks for 75 cents. Well I filled my mug at home with my new favorite WalMart sugar-free Cranberry drink and walked in with it. Since it’s in their mug, they don’t knowI didnt refill it there. I normally always get a root beer (easily 6pts because of the size) so I think this will be my new movie beverage and I will have my no-butter, extra-salt popcorn wtihout guilt!

Today is the end of my 4 day work week. I was at a weeklong training that was scheduled from 7am - 6pm everyday. I say that I survived because there were snacks provided everyday. Everything from Einstein bagels, to donuts, to chips and cookies. I was proud of myself for bringing my own water and snacks everyday. I did have one cookie and some of the veggie tray and 3 (yes three) fritos this week, but the old me would have had much more. I did find myself feeling very snacky at the end of the day, though and consumed a lot of points at night. I do my weigh in (at home) on Wednesdays and I had a gain of .4 this week.
I have found that the easiest meals for me to plan are breakfast and lunch. I can think of a lot of low point choices that are good and will fill me up in the morning, but it seemst that by about 4pm all I can think about is having a big dinner. I usually end up dipping into my flex just on meals. Maybe someone reading my menus will have suggestions on how I can cut out some points on dinners. Here’s what I had today:
3 pts - Nutrigrain eggo waffles with sugar-free syrup
1 pt. - 1/2 cup skim milk
5 pts - Tuna sandwich on wheat
1 pt. - 1/2 cup pineapple
2 pts - 100 calorie pack of Sun chips
3 pts - (estimate) mindless munching of baked lays while I fixed dinner
11 - loaded baked potato (cheese, bacon, veggies)
total: 26 points
activity - nothing yet

.
I read this on someone else’s blog and thought it was a good idea so I am going to borrow it:
What it did that was positive today:
1 hr irish dance practice
passed up sour cream on my enchilada at dinner
ate half my (restaurant) dinner when I really wanted to each the whole thing
What I could have done better:
More water
eat my orange instead of peeling it an throwing it away
half slice of cheese cake instead of a whole
play DDR a few times instead of just watching others play
I am officially out of flex points for this week and my week starts on Mondays. Hopefully Sunday will be manageable. We are invited to a family member’s house for dinner which means I am not in control of the menu, but I am in charge of what goes in my mouth!
