My home scale lies to me!

8 04 2008

So I have become obsessed with my home scale.  I weigh myself every morning and every night.  An unhealthy addiction, yes, but what I think is even more unhealthy is the fact that my home sclale lies to me.  Either it says that I am LESS weight than the clinic scale, or MORE weight that I was before.  I can’t stand the lies, yet, I am addicted to stepping on the scale every morning and every night.  It has become an autonomy of my daily routine.  After I brush my teeth to be exact.  So I guess I should stop brushing my teeth, then I won’t be prone to step on the scale immediately after.  Nah, I will keep brushing my teeth, however, the scale always waits.  It looks at me and says…step right up…let me guess your scale….I will give you a number that you will either LOVE or HATE…Ugh!  I am hating that feeling.  On the plus side, I am down 2.2 lbs from the weekend.

:)  I hope everyone has a good tuesday.

You know if it was me and I had a big ol’ liar telling me something everyday…I would have to dump ‘em and move on….had a few in my past and I am much better off these days :) I am not sure if there is a 12 step program for scale addiction but you may just want to check it out…congrats on the loss!!

i had the same problem!! however, my scale was really bad, and i only used that scale to measure my weight loss. So i thought at one point i had lost 40 pounds when really i was only down 20, i found that out at the doctors…needless to say, i threw the scale out!!! Try to put it away, maybe in a closet, or on a shelf where you wont see it every morning and want to step on it, kind of like out of sight out of mind. Good luck and congrats on being down 2.2 since the weekend….have a great day!!!

I would love to blame the fact that I have unknowingly gained fifty pounds on a lying scale, but unforunately I’m pretty sure that it is directly related to over-eating and under-exercising every day of the last two years! Sounds like it just might be time to invest in a new scale, especially if you are relying on your weigh ins…Twice a day, huh? People tell me that I’m crazy that I step on my scale every morning…

Girl, I weigh about 5-10 times a day. Don’t ask why because I know its going to do pretty much what yours does. LOL I can step on it one minute and weigh one thing and one minute later I will have gained 5lbs. LOL Seriously!

It’s very frustrating, but I can’t help it. It’s also my addiction and I have to have it every morning or else.

Mine lies as well. I had proof. I weighed myself at home and then went into the doctor’s office for a checkup and I was mysteriously 3 lbs lighter. I came straight home and pulled out my scale and it said the same thing, 3 lbs lighter. I told my DH and he said that the batteries must be going bad so I changed them.
