Daily Motivational Quote 2/8

8 02 2008

OK. Use the last post as yesterdays quote. Geesh week one and I am already slacking on the daily quote thing. Here is todays!

“In essence, if we want to direct our lives, we must take control of our consistent actions. It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently.” (Anthony Robbins)

This quote is what pushed me to join the February Freedom Challenge. I needed that push to consistantly introduce exercise into my routine. So far so good! Thanks Danielle !

I refuse to be a failure!

8 02 2008

“Failing doesn’t make you a failure. Giving up, accepting your failure, refusing to try again does!” - Richard Exely

So, I refuse to be daunted by the Firm. I have put my mind to tougher things and been successful. SO… last night, I popped it in again and totally sucked at it. It only goes up from here. I will keep plugging away at it until I own it!

Even though I suck… My arms and legs are burning today so it must have been somewhat affective!

Exercise DVD’s

7 02 2008

So I have been hearing about the firm lately. On impulse I bought a “The Firm Ultimate Fat Burning Workout” dvd. I tried to do it last night and WOW. That girl just shoots right out of the gate like a race horse. I didnt know the moves, I couldnt keep up, or get in sync. I felt totally foolish and inept. I had to stop. Maybe its just me, but you need to slow down at first so I can figure it out.

Then…I put in a dance away the pounds workout video that i bought a while ago and never tried. That one at least has a section where she teaches you the moves before the workout. (even though she is TOTALLY annoying) I still just couldnt keep up. I wont chuck that one totally I think I need to do it a few times to get comfortable with the moves and I can get over the her being annoying part.

Finally, I just switched back to my trusty WATP dvd. Those other ones just make me appreciate the easiness of the leslie videos so much more. None of the moves are akward yet you still get a great workout.

Tonight I am going to try the fat burning pilates video. I will let you know how it goes.

Definition: di·et [dahy-it]

6 02 2008

di·et Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[dahy-it]

–noun
1. food and drink considered in terms of its qualities, composition, and its effects on health: Milk is a wholesome article of diet.
2. a particular selection of food, esp. as designed or prescribed to improve a person’s physical condition or to prevent or treat a disease: a diet low in sugar.
3. such a selection or a limitation on the amount a person eats for reducing weight: No pie for me, I’m on a diet.

–verb
7. to regulate the food of, esp. in order to improve the physical condition.
8. to feed.
9. to select or limit the food one eats to improve one’s physical condition or to lose weight: I’ve dieted all month and lost only one pound.
10. to eat or feed according to the requirements of a diet.

–adjective
11. suitable for consumption with a weight-reduction diet; dietetic: diet soft drinks.

Somewhere along the way diet started being referred to as a negative term. There is nothing negative about it. A Diet should be the way of life going forward. And everything you eat is a diet, the difference being whether you choose to eat a good healthy diet or a bad-fried-sugary one.

The 4 D’s of Dieting

6 02 2008

I particularly liked what one successful dieter described as the Four D’s of Success: “Dedication, Determination, DIscipline and Disappointment” She included disappointment because, as she said, “it’s something you have to prepare yourself for.” Amen.

When she is tempted, she repeats The Four D’s of Success like ” a mantra.”

OK, repeat after me… Dedication. Determination. Discipline (and when it is beyond our control,) Disappointment.

Me, I’m gonna aim for 3D’s, but be prepared for 4D’s.

You??

Disclaimer: Yes I know we should not look at this jouney like its a diet… its a lifestlye change… but for the sake of convenience I am calling it a diet. Because going into this thats what we all had in mind and what we are doing is the true definition of a diet. The difference is that this isnt a “fad” diet or “crash” diet. I am not consuming only cabbage soup, thank you!

Quote of the Day - 2/5

5 02 2008

“Don’t be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.” (Dale Carnegie)

I love this quote. It reminds us that we need to set small manageable goals for ourselves, to be successful. My small goal:

165 by 2/18/08 That is 4.6 lbs in 2 weeks. A bit aggressive but I cant get it done if I dont even try.

Hi My name is Jacki, And I am an addict.

5 02 2008

lol.

No really. I am an addict. I am addicted to food. I love it, i dream about it, I sometimes catch myself obsessing over it. I have come a long way in changing my old habits but the addiction is still there. It can still make me (a so-called well adjusted and responsible adult) sulk and pout if I cant have it on my terms. My new obsession to take the place of the food one (hopefully) is quotes. LOVE EM!

So… Mainly for my reference I am going to start posting daily motivational quotes.
