About Mtngirlincali

I am a Colorado girl who’s been bounced around the country over the past few years.  I’ve always been a “bigger” girl– not obsese by today’s standards, but certainly overweight.  I was the girl in gym class who dropped off the chin-up pole without even trying because I had no upper body strength.  Never wore the bikini and always covered up with a t-shirt when out at the pool, using my pale skin as an excuse.  Dreaded clothes shopping because nothing ever seemed to fit right or make me look good.  In September of 2005, after I moved across the country for the first time, set my wedding date for the following June, and topped out at my absolute highest weight of 178.5 lbs, I joined Weight Watchers.

And the rest, they say, is history.

Weight Watchers put me back on the straight and narrow, teaching me how to treat my body and showing me that I was not MEANT to be a fat girl for the rest of my life.  No sir, there were BONES under all that fat, and WW helped me see that there’s nothing wrong with being smaller!  I faithfully followed the program, and week by week, saw dramatic results.  Lost my first 10% by Thanksgiving, lost 20 lbs by Christmas, and then continued to chip away, pound by pound, until I hit my personal goal on my wedding day of 142 lbs.  I made Lifetime, and ever since I have been trying to find a balance between the real world and where I want my weight to be.  Maintenance is its own journey!

I’m currently at 152 lbs, give or take a lb. here and there for sodium!  My goal weight is 151.5, but this is personally too high for my likings.  So I am here on Weight Watchen to remain accountable for what I am eating, and to try to get down to the 140’s in a healthy way.

My big news is that I am about to embark on my second year of triathlon competition, and this year, I am increasing my distances beyond my wildest comprehension.  I’ve joined a coached training group, so you will see that at times  my blog follows my exercise more than my diet.  At this point in my life, I’ve chosen to focus on muscle tone and fitness instead of the weight on the scale.  Hopefully, this will still get me into the 140’s……and it will all unfold in my blog, “Taking the Reins.”
