So I lied and I can’t stay away
29 09 2007Once a WWer, always a WWer, isn’t that right?
So, I thought it would be too hard to do double blogs, but in the end I wanted to post about my Entenmann’s Little Bites and marvel at how much I’d worked out since the end of June. I can’t stay away, and I miss the community!
The past few weeks have been trying. I’m in between triathlons and started a new training cycle a few weeks back, which included a taper week, race, and then a slow buildup back to a rigorous schedule. In those slow weeks, my cavalier eating started to catch up with me and I gained a pound and a half! I felt sluggish and horrible. So this week, I’m taking it all back. I’m back to calculating points in my brain, sticking to the “old” food, and trying to find that elusive balance between what I burn and what I eat…..and what will help me to lose.
My newest strategy is a bit of an experiment. Because my workouts are often longer than an hour in duration, I need to supplement my pre-workout meal with electrolytes and simple carbohydrates so I don’t get dizzy and tired. So I will only count points outside of exercise— 24 points a day, flat. But when I exercise, whatever I consume 1/2 hour before and 1/2 hour after, and during, doesn’t count. So, I don’t earn exercise points. But I also don’t count the calories in my Cliff Shot Blocks or my bottle of Cytomax Recovery, either. I’m hoping that this helps control me a little bit and gets me ready for the down season, where I won’t be nearly as active!
I did discover Entenmann’s Little Bites this week and am in LOVE. They aren’t filling at all and there are barely any in the 100-calorie package, but I was jonesing for a brownie and they took care of the craving without any “fake” tastes. Plus, they were cheaper than the Hostess Light Cupcakes, so this was a major bonus in my book.
Tomorrow morning I’m cheering on my fellow triathletes at an Olympic distance event, but before I can cheer I’ll be off and running the run course (6 miles!) before the first athlete hits the water so I can make sure there are enough cones on course to make the route clear. Last year, people got lost…..since this is the A race for some of our athletes, coach is pulling out all the stops to make sure it goes well. I’m happy to volunteer– I need the excuse to run, and the venue is so nice that I plan on doing a 20-mile bike ride after the race to try out my new pedals.
So, there you have it. I lasted a grand total of 3 weeks without Weight Watchers and this community, and now I’m back and craving forgiveness. ;) I hope to get involved in everyones’ blogs again and be a little more active than I have been.
