It’s Too Darn Hot

15 08 2007

Good grief, could it get any warmer today?  I was out walking around this afternoon in the 100 degree heat for about an hour, and had “swamp arse” for hours afterwards.  My coworkers and I complained incessantly about how disgusting we felt and smelled.  Hey, at least people left us alone!

So, not much to report here.  I went out to lunch today, and while I have no idea how many points my tilapia was, I’ll do my best to estimate.  Did my 1500 meter pool workout tonight, and I feel great.  It never ceases to amaze me how great I feel after working out in the pool.  My arms are getting tight, I’m getting a little faster in the water, and I just feel like I know what I’m doing out there.  Now if only my fellow gym-goers would leave the lap lanes and float in their own darn pools!  :)

I’ve finally been cleared by the physical therapist to run, so I’ll be doing that for 20 minutes tomorrow night after my 1/2 mile ocean swim.  Fingers crossed it’s a painless evening and that Friday is smooth sailing…..only 11 more days to my first triathlon of the season, so I need to get speedy.

Girl you are UNstoppable! Good for you in being able to bounce right back from your trip and get into training. I was reading your bio and noticed that you dropped a bit of weight pretty quick. (sept to january) Were you training then as well, or just doing the ww program? I find it almost harder to loose with the heavy exercise for some reason. Anyway, great work on the training!!

I really love reading about your training and how well you are doing. Great job getting right back on the wagon…both of them!

Oh yeah! Today at the pool, there was a family playing in one of the lane lines, then a trio (one girl and 2 guys) who were taking up the other lane line, plus 2 of the “non-marked” lap lanes (because the club only marks 2 lap lanes) forcing the other “lap” swimmer to swim over in the main pool area where I had to worry about my kids running into her.
When I was in college we had 2 designated lap lanes which were marked “slow” and “fast” — it was up one side and down the other and you had to gauge your speed to determine which lane to swim in….sometimes a bit frustrating when you had to slow up coming into a turn because of a slower swimmer, but for the most part, swimmers where VERY considerate and would try to sprint if they knew you were approaching from behind, stop at the ends and let you pass, etc.
Now at the pool I use, most of the swimmers take the entire lane and there is a limited amount of space to lap swim for any length of time! So, I hear you and I sympathize!
Hope everything went well at the mock tri!
