Whoa Nelly!!!!!!!! What the hell did I do today? Now before I tell you how much I ate and you see the proof let me preface this by saying that we went to a restaurant and I am totally guesstimating with that meal, although I don’t think I’m too far off since I did have 2 glasses of lemonade and we shared the spinach and artichoke dip that was served with bread instead of crackers or chips and I totally forgot to ask for dressing ON THE SIDE when I ordered my salad. My only saving grace is that I worked out twice today and we did walk a bit. Looking back, I didn’t need the PowerBar but they were giving them away free at the event that we were at and at the time that I ate it, I had no idea that we would be eating a meal less than 1 hour later. I also realize that I didn’t need to gorge myself of fucking popcorn, but it was the old school Jiffy Pop that you cook on the stove and I love that kind. I also didn’t need to eat so much bread at dinner but oh well it’s over with now and tomorrow I will have to actually get my ass on the elliptical so that I don’t slowly begin to blow up and no longer fit into my clothes. The good thing about getting back into logging all y my food is that I realize that even though it didn’t feel like I ate very much, clearly I could have made some better choices.

So with that here is today’s damage for ALL TO SEE!

2470 calories! OMG!!! I typically eat that in 2 days.

Update Part One..

Okay…I THINK that I am going to just copy and past my posts from here into WordPress so that I can still be with the Weight Watchen community but keep the personalization of blogger. At least that is the idea for now. With that said here goes….

I will start off with a post that I started before we left for vacation but never managed to finish….

6/28/07
This will probably be my last post before vacation or at least my last day to post. So much has gone on since Thursday afternoon. Let me attempt a quick recap…

Thursday evening I pick up The Husband and had to stay at the office with him for a bit because it’s still crunch time. They had ordered pizza and I knew it would be my only chance at dinner so I at 2 slices of cheese and some veggies pizza at like 8pm and I also had 12oz of Dr. Pepper. I NEVER drink soda, but it was there and I wanted a sip. The sip turned into 12oz and it was good but my stomach wasn’t super happy with me for it. I definitely felt like crap the next morning. So did The Husband, eating healthy is really making us more accountable to our bodies AND if we aren’t consciously listening our bodies are letting us know by feeling crappy the next day. 22 points for the day, not bad really.

06/29/07
Friday was better. I had my usual breakfast and a big salad for lunch so that got me all my veggies for the day. I was secretly hoping to go out for Indian (Nepalese actually) because we hadn’t been in so long and as you know from my last post we did! I had 10 points left for the day and still 30 FPs so I felt good about going. We went to our favorite restaurant but ordered a different meal so it’s tough to really count the points like I normally would. I need to go through my book to see what is listed and see if I can make a good guesstimate. Right now I’m thinking 15 pts for dinner but not totally sure yet.

07/10/07 Tuesday
I never got around to calculating the points from our Nepalese dinner but I think it was still okay. The rest of the weekend before vacation was okay. We did our best to stay OP because we knew what was coming. On Monday the 2nd we left for the island of Kauai on HI. It was our first real vacation ever (usually we travel to see family or for The Husbands job). It was also our belated Honeymoon since we only got to go for 3 nights/4 days right after our wedding last year. AND it was over our 5 year dating anniversary so this was a long awaited, long needed celebratory trip! I took roughly 200 pictures so it will take a while to color correct and re-size them (I shoot at hi res all the time in case I decide to print some). I will definitely post some or at least a link later in the week.

We arrived on Kauai (direct flight from SFO) just before noon HI time. This was only our second trip, the first being in the winter and we had NO IDEA how many other people had the same idea. The baggage claim was crowded but pretty fast considering that “Island Time” is a real thing LOL. What did take forever was the car rental. We already had a reservation and had paid but the line and wait was out of control. In the end The Husband made the executive decision to upgrade to a convertible in order to save another precious 30-45 minutes of vacation time. And boy was that worth it. We have now decided that any vacation in a nice weather location will warrant a convertible!

Once we got our car we jumped in and headed to our hotel. It was funny and flattering as we drove out of the lot, someone yelled out “you two look great in that car!” We both laughed but it was nice to hear! I wish I had the confidence to be so free with compliments like that. Even from a total stranger they feel great.

Once we checked into our hotel we headed to the pool bar for some cocktails and to make a loose plan for the week. A few weeks ago I ordered The Ultimate Kauai Guide Book and let me just say that if you are going to HI you MUST check out these books. They aren’t your typical guidebooks. They are written by a now Kauai local but from a completely honest perspective. We HIGHLY recommend ordering one from Amazon or wherever if you have a trip coming up. But I digress…We spent the next couple hours chatting with the bartender, drinking tropical drinks (mango margarita, blue hawaiians etc.) and just enjoying the weather. After we managed to run up a $50 bar tab we decided it was time to walk on the beach and check out the water and then head to the grocery store to get some food for the week (we stayed at a resort so we had a condo type room with a full kitchen).

Here is a teensy peek of me in my “converted summer wear” on the beach the day we arrived (the pants are rolled up, not capris).

That was the last day I actually wore regular clothes (and a bra) until we returned last night. A little tropical air and I quickly converted to my version of “island girl,” which meant swimsuit, board shorts, flip flops (that I had to borrow from my sister since I hate them and don’t own any, but they did come in handy), no jewelry except my wedding rings and non-removable pieces and hair up. I had packed so many cute dresses and skirts but we ended up spending most of our time at the beach and then in the pool that I never really got to wear any of it. Plus it was really hot.

After our little beach walk we headed to Safeway to load up on some healthy dinner options and some stuff to make our own drinks, after all we were on vacation :).

These last few days have been busy but I think I did pretty good considering it meant eating out and drinks. Hopefully I estimated points accurately.

I am not listing the calories for yesterday because I can’t find NI for the foods I ate. I’m guessing that I definitely ate towards the high end of my range if not a little over.

The good thing is that I didn’t ever stuff myself. I only ate half of my entree last night, which means I have some left over for today, and I only had a few bites of each appetizer. I know that I should have passed on the dessert but I just LOVE the kenufe from this particular restaurant. If anyone knows a good site where I can find ethnic food (Turkish, Ethiopian etc.) NI please post it for me.

think I made up for the points that I didn’t eat yesterday but I don’t feel bad about it. Weekends are always tough. We either eat a late breakfast which means a skipped lunch or dinner or we leave too early for something so there is no breakfast or a fast food breakfast. I’m getting better at taking healthy snacks for the road but not totally there yet. I only had a Fiber One Bar for breakfast knowing that we would be eating lunch out and I brought all my WW books along just in case we ate at a chain restaurant.

Well, we ended up walking around for a while and then stopped to eat at a small Mexican restaurant. Not sure if I’ve mentioned this before but I LOVE chips and salsa. Again Igave myself permission to enjoy the bad and try and make a good meal choice at the same time. The salsa was so good that it was hard to not just eat ALL the chips. I did eat a lot but I didn’t go crazy. I made sure to really enjoy each bite. I ordered a taco and then my husband and I split a side of beans and rice. We also ordered margaritas; it was nice out so it felt right ;). Next time I think it should be chips OR margarita, not both, unless I just get a garden salad. Either way it was filling enough to count as lunch and dinner. I did make sure that we walked around a bit more after we ate since we had over an hour drive home. All in all I don’t feel bad about it I’m just really hoping that a white wine margarita is less points than a regular tequila one.

I would have been in good shape had it not been for the milk at night but I felt that I needed a little somthing so that I wouldn’t wake up starving and I hadn’t had enough milk for the day. All in all not a bad day.

Yesterday started out well and with the best of intentions but ended up not so good. We went on a mini day trip and I packed some healthy snacks for the car ride; apples, carrots, Fiber One bars, WW snacks and water. We ate a healthy breakfast before we left so that we wouldn’t stop at McDonald’s like we typically do. The only problem was that we left so early that we ate breakfast earlier than usual (8am) and were hungry again by 10:30am. By that time my husband had also realized that he hadn’t had enough coffee so we needed to stop to get him some since he was driving and it was going to be a long day. Why is there no such thing as a healthy stop on a long trip? I’d love a Noah’s or Soup Company or Trader Joe’s anything like that, but no what are the typical choices? McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King etc. It’s bad enough that you’re sitting in a car for hours but talk about adding a gazillion calories/points to the mix is just deadly. Yesterday totally reminded me of this commercial.

I haven’t had fries in so long and am convinced that McDonald’s fries are the best that I had to order a small. They were SOOOOOO good, but the greasy coating that was left in my mouth after I finished them reminded me of what they were doing to my insides and why I don’t eat them very often. By that point in the day it wasn’t even noon and I had already eaten 2 breakfasts and a tasty but bad for you snack. Of course I forgot all my WW tools so I couldn’t even calculate anything but knew there was major walking ahead so I was hoping for the best.

Once we arrived at our final destination we walked/strolled for a good 3-4 hours in the heat. Stopping to chat with people here and there but never sat down until we got back into the car to head back home. At that point I had an apple and still felt pretty good about my day. After about 1.5 hours driving we realized that we were hungry and it was around dinner time so we should stop. We had no idea what was going to be available but we both knew that we didn’t want fast food. We pulled off the road in Gilroy and found a Mimi’s Cafe. Neither of us had ever been before but it looked cute and worth a shot. Little did we know what was in store for us.

First they bring you the bread. Have I mentioned before how much I love bread? I didn’t over due it but ate a few bites. Then the food pusher, I mean waitress asked if it was our first time at a Mimi’s and we said yes. BIG MISTAKE! Her response was “boy do I have a surprise for you!” Guess what it was? A container of 4 of their homemade muffins which I have since weighed and together they are over 2 lbs. We accepted them graciously and set them aside and continued to scan the menu. Since neither of us had been there before we had no idea that you had to ask for the low cal menu. I wanted a salad and thought that I would be okay if I passed on the dressing so I ordered the Fried Chicken salad. I knew it wasn’t the best option but I thought a little fried chicken would be okay, like maybe 5 points. Again WRONG! Once I got home I looked up Mimi’s and found that they list all their nutritional info on their site. Once I looked up my salad I wanted to cry! My dinner, which seemed decent enough to me was 20 points! 20! I only get 20 points in a day. It still doesn’t even make sense to me. Lettuce, some shredded carrots, a little shredded cheese (like maybe 1 oz max), an egg and some corn. No dressing, just buffalo sauce. Is the chicken really that many calories? WHAT do they put in that batter??? Luckily we got home late enough that I didn’t want anything else before I calculated my day. I thought Monday’s Thai feast was bad but that was less points than that 1 crazy salad and it tasted WAY better and I ate like 4 different things! I didn’t even count the few bites of bread that I ate because I think I would have just had a total meltdown.

Note to self: Mimi’s is cool and all but DO NOT EAT there again unless you get the healthy menu, bring your slider and see the nutritional info before ordering.
