I promised Wendi from the Healthy You Challenge that I would post a list of my food substitutes that I have found and use on a regular basis to create yummy low-fat and healthier recipes. If you have some in addition to what I have listed here please leave a comment. I love hearing about what others use and I think that it will also help others. I know I’m missing a bunch but here are some of my staples.

| Tortilla Chips | Baked corn tortillas |
| Shredded cheese | Trader Joe’s Lite Shredded cheese mix |
| Sour Cream | FF Plain Yogurt or FF Sour Cream |
| Bread Crumbs | Ground Fiber One Bran Cereal |
| Ice Cream | Bryer’s Light Double Churn (100 calories per 1/2 C) |
| Fries | Baked Zucchini Fries or Butternut Squash Fries |
| White Rice | Trader Joe’s Brown Rice Medley |
| Water or soda | Herbal Tea, Crystal Light , Soda Water |
| Pepperoni | Hormel’s Turkey Pepperoni |
| Ground Beef | Lean or Extra Lean ground turkey breast (I don’t eat red meat at all and used ground turkey for everything that calls for ground beef) |
| String Cheese | Trader Joe’s Light String Cheese |
| Bacon | Turkey Bacon |
| Snacks | 100 calorie packs and WW cakes, Curves Bars |
| Crackers | Trader Joe’s Sesame Melba Rounds, Ak-Mak Sesame Crackers |

Loove ground turkey and the AK-Mak’s with light salami - so good with soup for a quick lunch. Thanks for all of these substitution ideas!!
