Here’s  a (very bad) picture of my ring.  Turns out that despite my degree in Jewelry and Metalsmithing, I am still incapable of taking a decent photograph of my own jewelry.  Go figure.  I’ll try to get a better image soon.

Engagement Ring

The story behind the ring:

My future grandmother-in-law and I are pretty close.  She was married twice.  The first time was to my DF’s grandfather for 49 years.  The second was to a gentleman neighbor for a number of years (I’m not sure how long).  Both of her husbands passed away leaving her a widow twice over.  A few years back she had the above-pictured ring made using the diamonds from both of her wedding bands.  She gave it to my sweetie to give to me as our engagement ring!

I also found out that although he’s been married before (3 times.  oy!) I am the only one who she has found worthy of giving a family heirloom to!

How cool is that??
