About Me
I haven’t spent my life battling the bulge. Usually my weight would fluctuate enough to change sizes (back and fourth between a 12-14) and I just realized that I would never be a stick chick.
Last August, I quit smoking. At that point I had not only gained at least 15 pounds that year, I gained another 10 by December. Some ladies in my office were also noticing a gain and we decided to give Weight Watcher’s a try.
I choose the Point system and was surprised at how easy it was to follow the plan. The first week I lost over 4 pounds! I could’t believe it! I added more veggies to my plate and always tried to eat a big salad with my meal. I realized how important fiber and water was to my weight loss success. The pounds simply melted away.
I achieved Lifetime Member status on April 27, 2007. I have better eating habits now than I ever had before. I look good and feel great!
Some tips I realized along the way:
- A good nights sleep is as important as calories
- Fiber can make or break any diet
- Eat the veggies first, the more fattening items last
- Watching TV puts on the pounds
- A little walk does a world of good
I see that you mention fiber a lot when you talk about weight loss? what exactly is your theory about fiber? I ask b/c it seems to me that the more fiber i eat (and trust me, I eat WAYYY too much oatmeal), the more lbs I pack on (mebbe water?)
Fiber fills you up and helps to move food out of your digestive track because it cannot be digested. I really don’t think that prior to WW I worried much about fiber, actually I never looked at labels. I know that now, even though I am maintaining I still watch my fiber intake.
I eat oatmeal every morning because it is loaded with fiber and it keeps me full until lunch. I try to have fiber all three meals. Here is a great article on fiber:
