My Plan

Updated Plan December 23 

Until someone asked, I didn’t realize that I never really wrote down what I’m trying to do.

I’m not following any plan written by anyone else. This is primarily because I don’t know anything about any of them. I would most likely join weight watchers if the nearest one wasn’t about an hour’s drive away.

I’ve been pretty much following the food pyramid. I mentally track how many servings of each food group I eat. Anything that doesn’t fit into one of the categories I try not to eat. I’m trying to get enough fruits & veg and not go over on the grains or meat. I mostly leave dairy out but I try to eat a little of something from it every day.

My Goals are primarily as follows:

  • Drink Plenty of water
  • Minimize consumption of liquids containing carbonation or high volumes of sugar
  • End my pigging out on candy cycles
  • Eat fruits & veggies every day
  • Eat Breakfast
  • Walk on the treadmill

Progress:

Writing down everything I eat has helped a lot in the past. Sugary drinks arent much of a temptation with me, but I’d still like to cut back on them. I’ve been avoiding carbonation for a few years now, I’m satisfied with my current behaviour when it comes to carbonation, this is more of a maintain goal. Trying to stay within the food pyramid is helping me cut back on junk better than simply keeping track of everything I put in my mouth did.

I still haven’t done much on the walking & running although I’m determined that as of today (Dec 23rd) I will do a lot better. I’ve set a goal to join the SLC half marathon.

My Challenges*:

Junk food is abundant and easily accessable where I work

  • I get up late fairly often nearly always which prevents me from
    • Using the treadmill 
    • Eating breakfast
    • Packing a lunch on those days I need to bring which leads to me eating chips or candy bars or a food similar to a pizza pocket for lunch
  • My work & school schedule sometimes prevents me from eating dinner and I end up either
    1. buying junkfood or
    2. waiting way too long to eat and having a hard time controlling how much of what I eat when I get home
  • When I stay up late at night I tend to eat junk
    • this also contributes to late mornings

    Sounds like a great plan. Maybe instead of the word Hinderances you might be looking for “Challenges, or Daily Challenges “? Just a thought. You are doing great. Keep it up.

    The plan looks good. Especially logging what you eat and making sure to keep moving.

    Have you thought about weight watchers online? I go to WW meetings, but I also use the website (for points values, menu ideas etc.) There is a lot of support there, and help about meeting the “good health guidelines (5 fruits and veggies, 2 low fat milk servings, enough water etc. a day) While I haven’t looked at the nutrition info on costco muffins, I am guessing they are a lot of sugar and fat (based on the points) and maybe not the best way to start your day. (If they are some kind of “health” muffin with lots of vitamins protien and fiber then disregard). If you have 15 points to spend on breakfast, have you thought about a big veggie omelette with toast and fruit? Or (high fiber, high protien) cereal, milk and fruit?

    Just a thought. Good luck with everything.

    Hehe, i know the muffins are terrible, they’re not healthy at all, its practically like eating cake for breakfast. I’m gonna stop once the ones I have are gone. Its just one of my Vices that I havent been doing lately and I picked up again.
    The only reason I don’t go to WW meetings is because there’s not one in my area. I’d have to drive nearly an hour to the closest one, The furthest I’ve ever driven myself is like 6 miles.
    I’m gonna try to eat a healthier breakfast =) I just have to get up earlier

    You might want to think about chucking them in the trash instead of acting like you have to eat ‘em just because you paid for them. Rembember YOU are a lot more valuable than the price of a bunch of muffins (which, yes is like eating cake for Bkfst, and not giving your body anything healthy to work with.. so even though you ate a lot of calories, you are proabaly hungry a lot sooner than you should be since you are still malnourished.
    You should think about Weight Watchers Online… You would probably get a lot out of it. Check it out. www.weightwatchers.com
