The bright side…

So it’s been about a month, and this morning I weighed in. I lost 1 more pound in the last 2 weeks, bringing my total loss to 5 lbs. I should be really happy with that, but I’m a little disappointed. I lost 4 lbs in the first 2 weeks, which was awesome! I knew I might not keep that same pace - I am over 40 after all and that makes it harder to lose weight (Bob Greene said it, so it must be true!). So I’m trying to fight off the disappointment and look at the positives:
- I’m over 40 and I’ve lost 5 lbs in a 4 weeks. That’s an average of 1.25 lbs /week (did I mention I’m also a math geek?). That’s pretty good - it’s better than gaining.
- I lost 5 lbs and I still got to go out to eat every weekend with my family.
- I lost 5 lbs despite the fact that I got 3 birthday cakes in the past 10 days - one from my hubby, one at work, and one from my volunteers at a fundraiser I chair at my boys’ school. I had a small piece, counted the points, and I’m moving on.
- I weighed in this week after having a mini binge due to an extremely stressful day at work, and I had still lost weight. I rarely get that stressed over my job. I don’t expect to be anywhere near that stressed until maybe the week before Christmas. That’s a long way off.
- That mini binge did not become a ginormous binge because I’ve been eating healthy and the junk made me feel sick pretty quickly. I’m already changing old habits!
- I got through the monthly munchies with minimal damage, and now I’m back at the point in my month where it’s pretty easy to stay within my points.
I’m 5 lbs closer to my goal than I was 4 weeks ago. And I’m not stopping now.
Go me!!
