5K
22 04 2008Well I signed up for my first 5K, it’s on May 10th…that’s coming up pretty soon. I would have never thought I would run/jog for leisure. It is really hard for me, I feel like I’m gonna pass out, but I love it at the same time.
I have never been a runner. Even in High School when I weighed 105 lbs I still couldn’t run and ran like a 20 minute mile…seriously. I just was never fit, never had any muscles, and was lazy. I hated to breathe hard and sweat, so I never did.
I got on the treadmill at the Y last night and I have been doing between 2 and 2.5 miles, jogging about half the distance. Well last night I went for a total of 3 miles and was jogging for 2 of them :) YEAH ME! I wanted to test it out to make sure that I could do it without dieing…and I did!
This 5K will definately be a challenge, but I don’t have any huge goals or expectations of myself. I just want to give it my all, but finish at the same time. Then I’ll have a baseline for future “fun runs” (that should be an oxymoron). There is another local one here in July, so hopefully I will be able to improve my time for that one. I’ll let you know how it turns out!

You can totally do it! The sense of accomplishment at the end of the race is a totally awesome feeling. It’s really worth the effort. Sounds like you’re gearing up nicely for the event! Best wishes!
First of all, thanks for checking in on me. I’m back. It’s been a rough two weeks.
You go for it, girl! The 5k sounds like a great way to benchmark how you do. You can do it! Look forward to hearing that you maintained your loss for your weigh-in on Thursday.
How exciting!!! You can do it!!! and you will feel great after you have accomplished it! I am chearing for you!!!
