Steppin’ it up
At the beginning of the year, I decided to set daily goals for the pedometer I’d been wearing. I started out with 7,000 steps a day, upping it by 500/day every week that I reached that goal. Now it’s March, and I’ve finally reached the 10,000 a day level the experts recommend.
Took me long enough!
Goal for March 3-9: 10,000 steps a day
Actual total steps for week: 72,627
Avg. of 10,375 a day
Goal for March 10 - 16: 10,250 steps a day
Actual total steps for week: 66,661
Avg. of 9,515 a day
(Not goal, but still a better effort than I’d have made before. I used to count myself lucky if I logged 5,000 steps in a day. New week will be better)
Goal for March 17 - 23: 10,250 steps a day (again)
Actual total steps for week: 57,021
Avg. of 8,146 a day (Definitely not goal. And this new week, unfortunately, was no better than the last. It was worse. Ugh.)
Goal for March 24-30: 10,250 steps a day (third time’s a charm!)
Actual total steps for week: 81,640
Avg. of 11,663 a day — Goal … finally. I knew the third time would be a charm! Amazing what a little dedication to the gym will do. I went five of seven days, plus took a walk with the dogs on the sixth.
Goal for March 31-April 6: 10,500 steps a day
Actual total steps for week: 74, 081. Avg. of 10,583 steps a day — Goal … barely. Think I’ll stay here for a few more weeks to see if I can maintain this level.
Goal for April 7-13: 10,600 steps a day (might as well bump it up just a tad)
Actual total steps for week: 80,985. Avg. of 11,569 steps a day — Wow! Amazing what a commitment to working out will do, eh?
Goal for April 14-20: 10,750 steps a day (might as well shoot just a little higher again this week)
Actual total steps for week: 86,974. Avg. of 12,425 steps a day
That’s great! I didn’t expect to have that many.
Goal for April 21-27: 11,000 steps a day (why not? If I did 12,000 last week, 11,000 should be a snap!)
