Wave goodbye to a great week …
I’d been having such a good week … but blew it today.
Exercise-wise, things were good. I did a Zumba class and took the dogs on a 40-minute walk. But food was a different story.
Breakfast and lunch were OK. I had an egg and a tablespoon of LF cream cheese on half a light English muffin for breakfast. Lunch was a sub and baked chips from Subway. Even my afternoon snack — a child-sized movie popcorn — wasn’t too out of control.
Dinner, however, could have been much, much better. I took myself to the Outback. Ordered a bloomin’ onion, since I had a card for a free one. (Ate about a quarter, but still …) I also had the mixed grill: a small steak, two shrimp and two delectable scallops with wild rice and sauteed spinach. It was tasty
For dessert, I had an oatmeal scotchie from a bakery at the mall… AND a slice of Red Velvet cake. The cake was one of those totally stupid choices: I’d seen it at the store earlier in the day, and couldn’t get it out of my head. So I went back to buy a slice on my way back home from the mall, and ate it when I got home, with a glass of milk (so at least I got in some dairy!).
Why do I do that? It happens more often than I’d like. Someone mentions a food and then I end up eating it just because I can’t stop thinking about it. I’m not satisfied until I get it …
Very dumb. Anyone out there have any suggestions on how to stop that?
So not dumb! I’m the same way.
I think the key is to indulge without going overboard and balance. If you knew you wanted the cake then skip the onion (give the coupon away). And Find someone to share the cake with, you probably would be satisfied with just a bite or two. I know I am now but I have to have someone else there to eat the rest!! LOL
So you got to have some fun and indulge, get right back on the wagon. It’s not a big deal! This (as is life) is all about balance! Keep trucking you didn’t”ruin” the week you STILL did fabulous!
Just because it’s free…doesn’t mean it’s free!! Don’t stress it…it’s in the past. I give into some of my food cravings (read my last post) but I also will compensate for it later on. Enjoy a meal out that may have not been the best choice…then lighten up with other things during the next couple of days…I call it thinning out the mix. One or two bites of something is usually enough to hit the satisfy button…sooooo…if you know you can’t do that….take the two bites off the side and put it on a plate…then throw the rest away…or cover with pepper at the table….works for me. Do it before you bite!!
Just keep in the back of your head to NEVER ever again feel guilty about the food you eat. Take the time to understand what made you make the choices you did and move on…life is going to happen and life comes with some really great food….so enjoy in moderation of course and then when necessary….thin out the mix!! Keep going you are doing fine
