Why is this so difficult?

I know what I need to do in order to lose weight. (I should, after so many years of having it drilled into my head.) Make the right food choices and move more.
Distilled to that pure form, nothing could be simpler.  So why is it so darn difficult to follow through?
I know I need to […]

The best-laid plans …

I think it was Scottish poet Robert Burns who first wrote “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry” … or something to that effect. (It was in some weird Scottish dialect, if I recall.)
That’s what happened to me Tuesday. You may recall I planned to stick to Core all week. Unfortunately, life […]

Time to get serious

I spent the weekend coasting off the WW plan. I was eating crap and not getting in enough water. I wasn’t surprised when the scale showed it at my Monday weigh-in — up 2.6 pounds.
I might not have been surprised but I was disappointed — in myself. It means I’ve been hovering right around […]

Worked out hard today

Well, I guess it’d be yesterday, since I’m posting after midnight.
But in any case, I did 30 minutes on the treadmill and 10 with weights, followed by a 45-minute pilates class. My eating, however, has been less-than-stellar. If only I could get it together and do both at the same time, I’d be golden!

I’m a creature of habits …

… Unfortunately, most of them are bad.
With the help of Weight Watchers, I’m trying to replace the bad habits with good ones, but it’s not easy.  Sometimes, I backtrack.
That happened a couple of times in the last couple of days. Tuesday night, after work, I did a bad, bad thing: I stopped at the drive-thru […]

Scale went down

My weekly WW weigh-in was today. After getting on my scale at home when I first woke up (and seeing just a .5 loss, all three times I got off and back on), I wasn’t holding out much hope for a good reading.
But after a trip to the gym, where I put in 15 minutes […]

A Lazy Day

Sunday wasn’t the best day ever. In addition to eating a good salad with bad dressing, I also didn’t get to the gym.
Oh, I’d intended to work out. I set my alarm for 10 a.m. — but I slept straight through it and didn’t wake up until 12:30. Since I wanted to be at work […]

Yum!

I, unfortunately, am a fast food fiend. (That’s probably one reason I’ve always had to fight with my weight. The other is my genes. My mom was always heavy, and I was “lucky” enough to take after her.)
So when a co-worker recommended the Mexican Caesar Salad from Del Taco, I decided to give it a […]

Is it self-sabotage?

I got up this morning and ate a Core-friendly breakfast of Shredded Wheat bites, skim milk and a banana. Then I went to the gym and spent 20 minutes on the treadmill and 30 in a weights class. Next, it was off to the bank, and then to the office for a few minutes. (Oh, […]

Moving more

I know “Move More” is one of the four pillars in the WW program, but I have no trouble releasing what Crabby would call “my inner slug.” In fact, I have to fight to tamp down that couch potato and force myself to get to the gym.
That’s exactly what I did today. I went to […]
