The best-laid plans …
I think it was Scottish poet Robert Burns who first wrote “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry” … or something to that effect. (It was in some weird Scottish dialect, if I recall.)
That’s what happened to me Tuesday. You may recall I planned to stick to Core all week. Unfortunately, life got in the way.
That’s right: I had to take the dog to the vet, so I didn’t have time to make a healthy lunch. I got one of those Mexican caesar salads from Del Taco, added half an avocado and fat-free ranch dressing instead of the evil dressing it comes with … then later discovered it still had 8 Points.
Even so, I was undaunted. Snack was OP (1/2 cup FF cottage cheese, whipped with some olive oil and ranch dressing powder, along with some 94% FF popcorn) … but because I didn’t get a chance grab a dinner break until nearly 9 p.m., the last thing I wanted to do at that hour was head home to cook something. And since I’d had salad for lunch, I wanted something more substantial for dinner. I ended up at Fazoli’s, ordering a spaghetti with meat sauce combo.
I guess it could have been worse: I opted for the side salad over the slice of pizza (the other choice). But I did eat both breadsticks. After the lunch salad (without chicken, because they messed up the order), I was famished.
Poor preparation strikes again! Wednesday will be a better day, I swear.
