I’m a creature of habits …
… Unfortunately, most of them are bad.
With the help of Weight Watchers, I’m trying to replace the bad habits with good ones, but it’s not easy. Sometimes, I backtrack.
That happened a couple of times in the last couple of days. Tuesday night, after work, I did a bad, bad thing: I stopped at the drive-thru on my way down the mountain to the Boyfriend’s.
There are a couple of things wrong with that. Number one, I work until midnight. If I’m going to eat something at that hour at all, which I probably shouldn’t, it should be something light (maybe sugar-free Jell-O or a piece of low-fat string cheese or a pickle). Number two, I went through a drive-thru (which never has the best choices, because you can’t drive and eat a salad at the same time).
So there I was, cruising down the Interstate, munching on my five-piece chicken nugget and cheeseburger deluxe (made worse by the fact that I forgot to order it without mayo). Even while I was eating, I was thinking what a bad idea it had been to stop.
I used to stop all the time, but have slowly weaned myself from it. I think this is the first time I’ve done it in two or three weeks. I wish I’d managed to refrain yet again, because that little binge set me up for another one on Wednesday.
My book club meets on Wednesday, and I’d intended to eat just a little of the snacks on offer. Instead, I devoured a chicken taquito, some chips with salsa and guacamole and not one but two chimichangas. Ugh.
Today, Thursday, has been a nutty day, too — just not so bad on the food front. I slept in until 11:30 a.m., so I didn’t hit the gym. Instead I stayed at the boyfriend’s, sitting on my butt and playing his new virtual tennis game on the Playstation3. I made it back up to Flagstaff just in time to head to work.
That meant, of course, that I went to Subway and grabbed a sub for lunch instead of going home to fix something Core-friendly. Think I’m going to have to switch back to the Flex plan for the rest of the week and just count my points, because I’ve already devoured all 35 of my WPAs, plus some, in just the first two days.
Bad habits, begone! Would that just saying it would make it happen! ![]()
