Finally losin’ it

Just another Blogs.weightwatchen.com weblog

Is it self-sabotage?

I got up this morning and ate a Core-friendly breakfast of Shredded Wheat bites, skim milk and a banana. Then I went to the gym and spent 20 minutes on the treadmill and 30 in a weights class. Next, it was off to the bank, and then to the office for a few minutes. (Oh, the joys of having a job where I work weekends!)

Then it was back to the gym for “Lose to Win” class. The paper is sponsoring a weight-loss contest for the community, and since my column is frequently about dieting, the advertising department asked me to be involved. Since it could only boost my motivation, I said “Sure.”

So far, so good, right? Well, I’m getting to the not-so-good part. After class, I took myself to lunch at a gourmet pizza shop. Ordered the lunch combo, which is a slice of pizza and a side salad.

Sure, I earned 6 APs at the gym. But why would I go and use them all up on one measly slice of pizza? (OK, to be fair, it wasn’t a measly slice … but still …)

  1. If you were doing something like that everyday then perhaps you could attach ’self sabotage’ to it. I think, however, that what you experienced was just……..life. You work hard, you worked out hard, you enjoyed something delicious, you counted the points, and the wheel of life moves on.

Sounds like you had a very full and enjoyable day. May you have many more of those this week.

  2. WELCOME!!! I hope you find the kinds of motivation and support in this community that helps you reach your goal! I just started blogging not long ago and love it so far! Although I sure wish I would get 6 months of WW free!!! LOL Good luck on your journey and don’t let that piece of pizza get to ya. We all slip up once in a while. It’s how quickly we recover that counts! Have a great week!

  3. It was a great day! Thanks for your encouragement. I’m trying not to beat myself up too much, especially
since I’ve had a pretty strict Core week — at least strict for me. Most weeks, I “forget” to write down lunch
and dinner for the last three days of the week, which ends on Monday.

I’ve probably already used all my WPAs, and still have two days left to go. Wish me luck in eating only Core
foods for the rest of the weekend. (So far, I haven’t had much luck with that. I usually end up eating at
    least one or two WPAs.)
