Kellie’s Journey…

Finding who I was always meant to be!

Overeating Remorse

Posted by ksbess on April 8th, 2008

So I’m not sure how things ended up how they did tonight or why.  We decided to go visit my Grandma who lives out of town.  Let me give you a little background on the situation.  My Grandpa died in November and I’ve only been to her house once since.  We’ve all been sick and when we haven’t been, honestly, I’ve been dragging my feet to go.  It seems like things feel more “real” now and it’s hard.

So we go to one of my all-time favorite pizza places.  We ordered 2 large pizzas for our family and 1 would’ve ended up being plenty, as we brought the equivalent of a full pizza home.  Anyways.  I had done really good today up until dinner and then I just feel like I went crazy.  I ate at least 1 full slice after feeling full, and probably 1 before that that I shouldn’t have.  Then we go to Grandma’s and it was almost awkward.  Like I didn’t know how to talk to her or what to say.  She started doing her Grandma thing and passing around treats.  And I had a few.  Nothing terrible, but a lot more than I’ve had lately.

So, I feel terrible tonight.  I have no way of calculating the points on the pizza…all I know is it has a LOT of cheese.  And then with having a few different candies here and there I don’t know on points for those either.  So I’m left feeling clueless, not knowing where I stand exactly and feeling guilty.  I hate when I start feeling guilty, because it seems thats when in the PAST that I have started on one of my binge feasts.

So, what do you all do when this happens?  And again…how do I get good with tracking points? (Besides the obvious of the more you do it, the better you get.)  Have any of you had problems with getting consistent with it?

On a brighter note…I measured almost every square inch of my body a month ago when we started our Biggest Loser contest and I remeasured tonight.  I’ve lost a total of 7 inches off my body since then.  3 inches being off my hips.  It’s crazy though.  My hips are quite a bit smaller around than my waist.  That’s where I REALLY need to lose the inches is my waist.  Hopefully this exercise ball will start helping with some results that way.

Anyone that happens across my page, please leave comments.  I’d really like to start getting a better feel for the people on here.

    Congrats on the inches lost!

I do the same thing … feel guilty and start a downward spiral of eating things that aren’t good for me. I was actually surprised one day last week when I made a conscious decision to be “bad” and went to Long John Silver’s. I ordered a small combo meal and was surprised when I looked up the Points values later and found they weren’t as high as I thought they’d be.

Congrats on your inches lost. I need to measure my body. I have no idea how much I have lost since I started I wish I knew. My waist is my biggest problem area also. Does the exercise ball really help? I have one but haven’t used it much?

Great job on the inches lost!

If I don’t know the points value of something I’m eating, I go to calorieking.com. If they don’t have the restaurant listed, I usually choose the item from “Average All Brands”.

Example, your pizza. If they don’t have the restaurant listed from where you got the pizza, you can always just search cheese pizza (or whatever topping) and look under the Average All Brands. A slice of cheese pizza regular crust from a 14″ would be equal to 6 points. It might not be right on, but it is a good gage. Helps to keep me on track. I hope this was helpful to you. :-)

    Keep up the great work!
