Week is off to a good start!

Well, here it is Monday and the week is off to a good start. Do you know how many weight loss “Mondays” I’ve had in my life? Ya know…you give yourself permission to eat whatever you want right now, because “come Monday I’m starting a diet”. And your diet lasts 3 hours into Monday and you’ve decided you’ll start again next Monday. NOT ANYMORE! I’m feeling so good about what I’m doing, and it’s not a diet. I’ve really come to the conclusion that everyone is right when they say that diets make you fatter. Along with bad habits, I’d blame diets partially in landing me where I’m at today.
And, I must say, I survived the weekend without totally falling off the band wagon. Another bonus!
I’m hoping to continue figuring out this blogging thing so that my page looks half as good as a lot of the others out there. So, if you have any suggestions, let me know.
Small wins for the day:
I made this skillet dinner and after taking my first few bites, decided I really didn’t like it. So guess what? I didn’t eat anymore. Side note: How do you guys handle it when your kids don’t like something you’ve made? Do you offer something else or what do you do? I started feeling guilty when I didn’t eat what I’d made, but realize that I get upset with my kids when they do the same.
Was really fighting the urge to make brownies or muffins and got busy with my daughter playing a game instead.
Those of you doing Weight Watchers…how do you stay faithful in tracking your points? I do pretty good with breakfast and lunch. But when dinner comes around, it seems like I have a hard time figuring points on whatever I’m making or having somewhere else, so I stop at that point. Any tips?
I guess it’s about time to call it a night before those late night cravings sneak in.

I’m proud of you for not eating more of the skillet dinner! It is so easy to mindlessly eat, even when we are no longer enjoying what we are consuming!
I do my best to track everything I eat, every day. At the end of each day, I send my daily eating log to my sister. Sometimes I have to really guess re: points but after a while, it gets easier (someone told me that one point is approximately 60 calories). There are a few days when I get out of control and eat everything in sight. On those days, I still try to write down everything I eat even if I don’t record the point values.
I try to be honest with it. I try to measure portions when I am at home and I count every “bite” (i.e. a free sample from Costco or a bite of my husband’s ice cream) as one point. It really makes you conscious of what you are eating!
Stick with it and you will get the hang of it!
