Not a Big Fan of New Year’s Resolutions
2 01 2008In November and December the gyms were dead (I go to 2 different gyms depending on the day of the week. I have 2 office locations.) The week between Christmas and New Years the gym was packed and so was today. Any surprise? I’m kind of over the whole New Year’s Resolution thing. By March I never remember what I had resolved to do. I know when I needed to lose 60 pounds, focusing on the big picture wasn’t the most helpful. If I had focused on all 60 pounds, I would have given up in weeks, if not days, like most people do with New Year’s Resolutions. Therefore, I’m resolving to continue making monthly goals for myself. It’s the only way to go for me. I know I sound incredibly cynical about the whole topic, but come on… it’s the same thing year after year and we know somewhere there is a flaw in the resolution department. When we do it when we’re ready, we’ll be successful. In my opinion, the day of the year isn’t going to be the motivator most people need to stick with it.
On the other hand… to all of you who did make New Year’s Resolutions, I wish you the very best, honestly.
I’ll be posting January goals before the end of the week. Thanks for stopping by!

I am with you. I’m taking it as just another day to revisit my goals - which I often do at the beginning of a month anyways. nothing new, just a power boost because - well, if I ever had a NY’s resolution that worked, I wouldn’t have gained and stayed the same weight for so many years, right?
I understand the gym “problem”~I’ve been “excersing” at home~It should fade back to regular in a week or two!
