missy your blog was just what I needed. I needed a shot in the behind. I lost 19lbs on ww but i have no idea where i am today, b/c i stopped going to meeting (too much $$$ in the econ) anyway i kept the on line tools. I need to buy a scale and stop messing around. I love you long term goals. I am going to buy a scale and set some for myself and get back on the good foot...welcome and THX!

Welcome! I am glad that you have joined and are starting your journey for a new direction. I have been blogging for less than a week and I have found much inspiration. For the first time in a while, this week I have been able to stay within points and get some activity points in. Take it one day at a time and remember that the barrier is typically in our own minds. To help you through, read peoples blogs often or start reading some inspiring books. I have some on my site that have recently inspired me. Good luck!

Hi... Your story could have been written by me so I can definately relate to what your saying. I started at 256 and I am currently 215 and have been on WW for 4 1/2 months. I agree with the other ladies...don't use dates for your goal. I do them in increments of 5 pounds...it makes your goals so much more obtainable!! Feel free to drop on my blog @ http://coletted.blogspot.com and on the right side I have a list of people I read daily. If you get a chance come over and click on "where the heck is Barbie" and read Stephanie's blog. She is a wondeful lady who lost 245 pounds but it took her almost 4 years. WE are all in the same boat...just don't give up!!

Hi and welcome to the site! I agree that the inspiration and support from the women here is amazing. I was looking at your goals and first of all want to wish you the best in your journey and congratulate your decision! Some of your goals are rather far away. Perhaps setting some in between goals will help you stay motivated (ex. 1st 5 lbs, new dress size, etc.) I have a goal to weight what my drivers license says (LOL) which I will hopefully meet in the next weigh in or two. I like to have dates too. What I have done instead of setting dates for all my goals is to have a projected date for reaching only the next gaol. For example, when I met my first goal I looked ahead to goal 2 and set a realistic date for reaching it. I am now 1.1 lbs and 3 days from my goal 2 and I think I can reach it (and if not maybe just be one week late.) Either way, the date helped me stay motivated, but if I had set a date for goal 2 in the beginning I think I would have missed it by much more and overestimated how much I would realisitically lose in that amount of time. Sorry for the ramble. Again - welcome :)

WELCOME!!! I hope you like it here, you will definitely find some wonderful, encouraging people here along with lots of support & great advice. I think that your goals look good, with the possible exception of the first one. It is possible, keep in mind that July is already 1/2 over... I just would hate to see you not make it, get discouraged & fall off again. Some wise person on here (can't remember who) had once suggested not putting dates on goals, b/c that day will come & go whether or not you make the weight. Then it throws off the rest of your dates, can be frustrating/depressing etc. You know yourself best, if you don't think it will effect you like that if you don't quite make it, then GO FOR IT!!! If you do, then maybe reconsider canning the dates & just attach some rewards (new outfit, pedicure, etc) for yourself for when you do hit those goals. Either way, I wish you the best of luck!!

What a story... so similar to many of us on here I'm sure. It is so hard when people do not realize that being overweight isn't always simply a matter of "Hey, I like food and don't watch what I eat" but more often than not it is an emotional issue as well. I think you are definitly on the right track- "a thousand mile journey begins with one step". My only advice would be to set small goals for yourself- basic goals such as to lose 5 pounds. I think that when you give yourself a specific date, then hit something such as an inevitable plateau then the journey just becomes MUCH more frustrating. Good luck with everything, and remember- one day at a time!

Hiya! I just read through your introduction and it really moved me... I totally feel the pain when you say that people think that you're fat or heavyset because you're lazy! That's such a bloody stereotype, i get confronted with the same problem too! People often don't realize how mean they can be at times. Anyways that was just to tell you that someone was listening :)
