Well, I made it to the gym before work on Friday. Very proud of myself, I have to say. And it was refreshing. Then, I went again Saturday morning! Sunday, I cleaned house, literally, all day. It was the “Christmas Take Down” which is just as good a workout as any! However, sadly, couldn’t drag my rear end out of bed this morning.
If we don’t go to the beach tonight, I will definitely be off to the gym.
And tomorrow is a brand new year! So here is a new years toast to all of us vowing to be thinner and healthier in the new year. (You all can’t see me, but I am holding up my champange glass! No, just kidding. It’s my water bottle, I’m at work!!!)

I can’t believe it has been over a week since I last blogged. Christmas just flew by! I had a great time with all of my family. And, happy to report, didn’t gain over those few days. Maintained, which is much better than gaining. I don’t know what I was thinking trying to lose five pounds before Christmas. That was just a crazy idea! Didn’t make it to the gym these last 4 or 5 days, too much running around. We really wanted to go last night but we decided to use our “grandparents Christmas money” to go buy a new T.V. which was pretty exciting. And I had big plans for the gym tonight and was pretty excited to go but we have friends coming up from Salem that we haven’t seen in a while and we were invited to dinner, so it’s not happening tonight either. See, this is why I am a much better morning work-out-er. Nobody makes plans at 5 in the morning!!! The only bummer thing is that my gym doesn’t offer any classes until 8:30. What kind of gym doesn’t have a 5 or 6 am class?!?! Oh well, I can still go. That is my new plan! Morning workouts! (and a petition to get a morning cycling class!)
Today has been a pretty good day I think. English muffin and some OJ for breakfast. Then lunch I had a little rice and a chicken tomale. Yum Yum!!!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families!

I don’t know about the rest of you but this holiday season is just flying by!! I don’t know where my time goes!
Went to the gym yesturday and had a really great “eating” day. I think the only “extra” think I ate was a sugar cookie. I am really wanting to do cycling, as it is one of my favorite and most efficient exercises but I am terrified that I might pass out and fall off my bike as I haven’t done it in a few months!!! I remember the last time I started doing cycling, the first time just sucked! It pretty exhausting, but got much better after that. I guess I should just go for it!
More later…

I don’t know what the heck happend to Fri, Sat, Sun. Just to busy of a weekend I suppose. I got to spend the weekend with the kids I used to nanny for. Jack and Alice came up for another “lumber party” (as Jack likes to call them) and we spent all day Saturday doing fun Christmas stuff. We decorated foam antler ears for them to wear and we made cookies and then we went to the Zoo lights with my whole family, had dinner, road the train, and walked around and looked at the lights. Didn’t make it in to the gym friday or saturday (We finally were able to sign up on Thursday) but if you’ve ever pushed a double stroller around the Zoo for 3 hours, no excess exercise needed.
I do think I ate pretty well which is good. My sister spent the night last night (Trevin went to a friend’s house in Salem so they could get up early and leave for the mountain: BIG SNOWBOARDER, and I don’t sleep alone!) so we did chow down on a few sugar cookies. I sort of figure with the holiday season, I won’t lose any weight, but maintaining is pretty darn good. I did make it into the gym last night. Did arms/legs/abs and 10 minutes on the eliptical so that was good. I really like our new gym, it offers every workout machine possible!!
TODAY
Breakfast: 6oz OJ, 1 cup all bran cereal w/8oz skim milk
Morning snack: 1 pack of the Nature’s Valley granola bars (2 bars)
Lunch: Chicken salad sandwich on wheat bread, diet coke, orange, and about 10 kettle chips.
**Man, I don’t know what happend but a pretty good day went sour real quick! First of all, Allison talked me into skipping the gym and coming to dinner with her and our mother’s which was really fun and we had these really yummy chicken fiesta salads. Drank all my water, was bummed about missing the gym though. But then, on the way back from Newberg, all hell broke loose. I had, (I’m embarrassed to even say) a Dairy Queen Blizzard! I guess I better do cycling tomorrow!

Breakfast: 1 cup curves, whole grain cereal w/6oz skim milk
Lunch: 1/2 ham sandwich, 1 orange, three crackers w/chicken salad (Oh by the way, Costco, in their deli section, sell this homemade chicken salad and it is the most delicious thing ever. It’s loaded with celarty and other yummy stuff and let me tell you, on some low cal bread, it makes a great sandwich!! It’s also good just scooped on Ritz crackers)
Dinner: Macaroni Grill!!! yum! Big salad, this mozerella frita thing, and about 1/2 cup of my pasta. Oh, and two pieces of break. (By the time I finished everything else I could barely eat my pasta)

I was sitting here at my desk at work typing away thinking about that delicious chocolate cake sitting back there on the break room table (which I totally resisted yesterday) . I was just thinking how much I wanted a slice of that chocolate cake with it’s creamy chocolate frosting when a concept came to mind on eating what you aren’t supposed to: Why is it so hard? You just don’t put the cake in your mouth. Just don’t do it. Just don’t eat the ice cream or the potatos or the M&Ms. You just, DON’T do it. It seems so easy, so why is it so hard?
Breakfast: 2 pieces of toast w/butter and peanut & 6oz apple juice.
Morning snack: 1 mandarine orange
Lunch: Tostada, a handful of tater tots
Dinner: 2 slices pizza
About 50oz water
*The end of the day is the worst for me. I can be good all day long and then I get home at the end of the work day and all I want to do is stuff my face with the bad stuff!!!

Well, I rounded out yesterday with a couple of bowls of lucky charms. I know, good choice for dinner. I must admit, I am an emotional eater. My little sister is dealing with a very trying time in her life right now and as she is a very introverted person, she keeps everything inside. Well, all of her stress came pouring out this weekend; in the form of hives. My parents took her to the ER and they gave her benedryl. But yesterday, at this show she was doing for school out in Clackamas, the hives were so bad she was having trouble breathing and collapsed. They had to call an ambulance who whisked her away to the ER AGAIN. I ran to my parents after work, grabbed my two bowls of pure sugar and went to Clackamas with my dad. Needless to say, it was not the way I had planned my evening. Trevin and I had planned on going to the gym where my sister works to sign up last night, but as she was in the ER that didn’t happen.
But, moving on, today is going to be a better day.
Breakfast: 1 cup kashi oatmeal (thanks Ali)
Morning snack: 1 mandarine orange
Lunch: turkey sandwich, 8oz skim milk, 1 apple
More later…
Dinner. Dinner was basically a plate of carbs. Bad idea. But what are you supposed to do when your fiance (trying to get himself out of trouble) makes you dinner? Oh well.
Short ribs, corn, potatos, bread, apple cider.
Finished all water.

I need some good mind tricks to play on myself. The stretch from the end of my lunch hour (1:00p) to the time I leave work (5:30) is just way too long, I get bored and want to each everything in sight. I know it would be good to keep some healthy stuff here to snack on, but any other ideas? I read in a magazine of tips on weight loss, this one woman would put the appropriate amount of low fat ice cream in a dish and eat it with a baby spoon so that it would last longer and it sort of tricked her mind into thinking she was actually getting more than she was. I need ideas like that because the chocolate cake we have in the breakroom for christmas was calling my name. I ignored it for a long time but ended up eating a small sliver. BAD BAD BAD, I know, but it was the only bad thing I have eaten today. Everything else was on the list!!!

A girl at work brought in a new snack today that I thought I should share with you all. I guess they were advertised in fit magazine. It’s a healthy(ier) chip so for any one who is a carb craver like me, it’s a better choice than the regular ones. The brand is Flat Earth and they are called Baked Veggie Crisp. The brand I tried today was “Tangy Tomato Ranch” and they were really yummy. I probably won’t be purchasing them because there is such a thing as too much of a good thing and I would be the one to down the whole bag. The serving size is 12 crisps and per serving there are 130 calories and 5g of fat and there is 1/2 serving of your daily vegetables in each serving.

Yes, I did. I kept my promise! I might often blog from work on my lunch hour as when I get home from work at the end of the day, I just want to throw my sweats on and lounge around. Also, I suppose I didn’t mention before, I did the LA Weight Loss diet for about a year and it worked really really well for me when I actually followed it so that is the plan I am going to stick with.
Today is going really well so far. I am working on the whole chart thing, so until then, I will just journal it all. For breakfast: 1 egg scrambled and about 6oz yogurt. Morning snack: 1 bar (leftover from LA, you’re supposed to do two a day) and now I am going to eat lunch which I brought leftover past from last night. Not the healthiest but it’s loaded with tons of yummy veggies. Oh, and, I have done 48oz of water so far!! More later.
Okay, it is now 4:22p. I have finished my water for the day plus some, ( I think I’m at about 70 oz) so that’s good. I had two mandarine oranges for an afternoon snack.
