If you don’t do it this year, you’ll be one year older when you do. 

Many of you probably recognize these words of wisdom from skiing’s all time greatest film maker and adventure extraordinaire - Warren Miller.

As a ski racer that came from a long line of snow worshipers.  I grew up on Warren Miller films, it was our family tradition to go to his new film every fall.  The films pumped us up and created an inner ache to flock to the mountain and get our rush on!

After the adrenaline rush and nostaligia subsides from thoughts of Warren Miller, I think about his words again -

 If you don’t do it this year, you’ll be one year older when you do. 

These words invoke aspiration, desire, and depending on my thoughts & emotions it spurs questions of where I’m at with my life’s dreams.

Warren Miller was never afraid of his dreams.  He quit his job, bought a little hand held camera, lived in his van, and toured the ski areas making movies on what little pocket money he had.  He not only dreamed but actually lived his dreams and consequently was a huge success doing what he loved to do!   

The quote for me means so many things:

1. Your never too old to try something new or to go for your dreams.
2. What is it you dream of?
3. If not this year, why?  when?
4. Time is limited and valuable - don’t waste it in the coulda, shoulda, woulda’s.

I’ve started my heart healthy lifestyle but I need to buckle down and refocus again.  I’ve found myself slipping into old routines.  I will accomplish my goal of heart healthy at 140 lbs this year!  I refuse to be spend another year overweight and saying I just didn’t get it done this year, I guess I’ll just be another year older when I do.  It’s pretty ridiculous when I put it in those terms.   What is it you’re waiting for?
