So far so good….

Date December 11, 2007

I’m midday posting as I’m off to dinner with the husband, the toddler and some old friends.  We decided on the Melting Pot. I’ve never been there and I’m looking forward to it.

My day so far has gone well and I’m not going to ‘ruin’ it with one meal.  When I say ‘ruin’, I mean it in two ways….

  1. I am NOT going to just totally pig out with complete disregard for health/points/calories/whatever.  And..
  2. I’m not going to not enjoy myself being overly concerned with what I can or cannot eat.

Translation… I’m going to have a good time, eat responsibly and enjoy myself.

Here’s my day so far…

  1. LOVE the Melting Pot. It’s my and hubby’s favorite spot to go to celebrate our anniversary!

Careful with the cheese…and choose a broth-y or wine based “main course” fodue and ENJOY. That part really isn’t so bad since there are tons of veggies too.

But the chocolate fondue for dessert? MMMMM!

  2. I’ve always wanted to try the Melting Pot. Make sure you post about the experience. I’ve heard that it takes a long time though….Hope the toddler hangs in there.

  3. I LOVE the Melting Pot! My boyfriend and I went there for our 1 year anniversary when we lived in Washington, DC and now it’s become our tradition. We had our 4th anniversary this past November 3rd and we ate there and it was wonderful. I was doing WW then and the nice thing about Melting Pot is that while there is a good bit of food, you cook it in front of you so you go fairly slowly and don’t stuff yourself because you’re always aware of how full you are. The dessert killed me, however. I think we had the dark chocolate raspberry and it was incredible with all their dippers…. Can’t wait until next November! Hope you have fun and let me know how it goes!

  4. Soooo…. good….. yumm-o! Enjoy it. I’m jealous!

  5. I too love The Melting Pot! I actually got engaged in the one in Arlington, VA :)

However, we definitely have to limit our trips there as we can’t say no to the cheese or the dessert. All those dippers!

    Enjoy!

  6. I can’t wait to hear what you ate at The Melting Pot. I haven’t been there while on WW, but went a long, long time ago. I had a white and dark chocolate amoretto dessert that was heavenly and probably so high in points!

  7. I was totally drooling as I read about the Melting Pot. Enjoy!! We have one near us, but I haven’t ever been there .. now I’m wanting to go.

  8. That is so funny Roni because that is where we are going for our on’s birthday tonight. I have been there a few times and it is kind of WW friendly, IF you don’t touch the cheese fondu and get the broth instead of the oil fondu.

  9. Good luck tonight! Make good choices and you’ll feel great after the meal. I’ve never been to melting pot but honestly, it just sounds like trouble!

  10. We only go to the Melting Pot for special occasions… and I can never control myself there… So I hope you had a great time, and were able to do that!

  11. Check out Melting Pot’s menu in advance on-line so you can make choices without feeling hurried! We don’t have one yet in Toledo but it is coming soon. I just checked out the menu and it sounds fabulous with some heavenly choices that won’t compromise your healthy plan.

I check out menus on-line faithfully before going out; it helps me to stick with my plan and not get “lost” in all the choices once at the restaurant.

    Enjoy tonight! Toledo Deb

  12. What time do you go to the gym? If I knew you were up too it might make me more motivated :)

  13. OMG I LOVE the Melting Pot. It really is not bad for you. The wine and garlic salt is to die for. I got some to take home the last time we were there. Have fun!

  14. I hear that it is very expensive to eat at the Melting Pot. Would love to go

  15. I’m headed to the Melting Pot this Saturday and am wondering how on earth I’m going to count the points. I can’t find any nutritional information anywhere! I’m planning to skip the cheese course, and we always get broth as the cooking method for the main, and I’m allowing myself the chocolate course. I’m not worried about going over because I have my weekly flex points but I want to calculate as accurately as I can. Any tips? How did you count it?

  16. fieryirishangel - I calculate every peice of meat at one point. I figured for the chicken it’s probably less and the the beef may be more.

Just remember it’s only one meal and no matter how you count, you are still counting and that’s a success!

Have fun! It’s my new fav restaurant!
