Hi there everyone….I’m scrapbooking again tonight with the ladies from the church and once again it’s potluck time. The theme this weekend is Cinco De Maya….so it’s tex-mex. I need to take along something, but I want it to be healthy…any suggestions?
I will need to do a quickie trip to the grocery store after work for whatever I take, so it needs to be simple!!! Maybe a layered dip?…sort of taco style minus the meat?? HELP!

Thought for today:
You can be pleased with nothing when you are not pleased with yourself.
~Lady Mary Wortley Montagu (1689 - 1762)
I have a challenge for everyone today….we all are really good about telling others what we DON’T like about ourselves. What about the things you DO like?
Can you name 5 things you love about YOU? Here’s my 5!
1. I love my sense of humor
2. I love my eyes
3. I love my neck - call me crazy but I can really see my weight loss there!
4. I love being able to work out on the eliptical, I only recently started using it all the time, my feet used to fall asleep and I couldn’t get past 15 minutes, but I am up to 60-90! WOO HOO!
5. I love my experimental outlook on new things. I am no longer afraid to try new excercises or foods for that matter. I’m learning that new things are often better than expected!
I know this is hard to do. I was really struggling after number 3 but it’s worth it to look at yourself and make positive observations. After all, if you asked your kids or your hubby or friends they could probably rattle off half a dozen good things about you without any thought at all! So do it, you may be surprised by what you think of YOU!

I chose this quote today because of personal experience. I used to be the kind of person who was afraid to try anything that looked like it would be hard to do, or I would struggle with it….To a certain extent I probably still am, but what I’m learning is that there are all kinds of people willing to help you out and teach you how to do different things if you just work up the nerve to ask. Thought for today:
A woman is like a tea bag- you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.
I decided to look for a quote by this former first lady today because my 16 year old daughter is doing a speech and a poster on her for history this week. I’ve been helping her find more on the web and she really is an interesting person.
Reading this quote made me think about how strong I think I am. Read the rest of this entry »

Thought for today:
Whatever you are, be a good one.
~Abraham Lincoln
Well said Mr. Lincoln!
It’s so nice out today! 80’s, sunny, a light breeze…terrific day! We are heading to a Pyrate Feaste tonight (the DH and I), and I am trying to figure out what my points will be…I have 18 left for the day and I’ve got 33.5 weekly remaining….plus 39 Activity….I am sure I will be fine, just a little concerned…isn’t the whole point of the weekly and activity points to give you a buffer but not meant for you to pig out all week?…I want my activity especially to count towards weight loss, not a buffer….
Maybe I’m just too gung-ho over the numbers this week. 4 1/2 pounds down in two weeks is making me feel pretty good though….gotta admit! Went and bought new workout clothes today….much smaller than anything I’ve worn in years…shocking to know I got into them…really….you can see the changes in the mirror and on the scale, but getting my brain around it is taking time…
