Give a man a fish….

Posted by Froggy on April 30th, 2008

I found the following on another blog (http://blogs.weightwatchen.com/klw313/) here in weight watchen……and it’s a great one!  Kim’s really onto something here!

“Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to catch fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime.”

My version: Give a woman a plan to lose weight and she’ll get skinny. Teach her to deal with her food issues and she’ll stay skinny.

How’s that for genius???  I don’t know if I’ve dealt with my food issues.  I don’t even know if I know what they are.  I’m fat.  I’ve always been fat.  Who’s fault is that?  Surely at this point in my life the blame for CONTINUED fatness is mine.  But where did it start?  An unhappy childhood perhaps?  A bad relationship with my mother?  Being oldest?  Being the only girl to a mother who wanted no daughters?  Perhaps all, maybe none of it?  I don’t know, but I am going to start thinking about it.  I hate to bring myself down but I hear successful “losers” say all the time that they had to face what made them fat in the first place.  And here all along I just thought it was food!

I don’t know about genius, but thanks for the accolades! I know I eat when I’m feeling anything (stress, happiness, sadness, boredom, etc). It’s so hard to reprogram myself to avoid food and just feel. Hope you’re better at discovering what drives you! (c:

I agree that determining what your triggers are and what has caused you to get and or stay fat is key. You can’t change a bad habit if you don’t know what is causing it. I wish you the best in learning what your triggers are and working through them!

On another note, today is May 1st, our challenge begins TODAY. Check out the latest post in the Challenge Blog (http://jigglelessexercisechallenge.blogspot.com/2008/05/challenge-for-may-abs-wins.html - add the blog to your reader if you use one). Come on, let’s do this! No giving up! :)
