New beginnings in Lititz, PA

There is a lot going on in the school district I live in lately. It doesn’t have a lot to do with weight loss or the reasons why I am here but it certainly has a lot to do with a recent post of mine about being true to myself.
I quoted Janis Joplin a few days ago…she said:
I live in the Warwick School District in Lititz, PA. If anyone reading is in my area you may know where this is going. Our band director was caught with his pants down and a student in his back seat (literally) back in January. He was arrested and charged and fired from the district, and now a local paper would like to interview the marching band students (my daughter is in the marching band), and the district is trying to prevent it from happening.
Many people in the district feel as I do, that they should excercise their right to free speech and say what they want to the paper. HOWEVER, most of them will not speak up and say so. This is a challenge to me personally. I was recently nominated to be on the executive board of the band parents organization. I want it very badly, but in speaking up I feel I may jeopardize my chances of getting to be involved in that way.
I spoke up anyway. I had to….if I am really going to be true to myself I needed to say what I thought, even if it costs me the seat on the board. But if my speaking up helps just one other person have the guts to do so as well it was worth it.
It’s truly a much longer more complicated story than that, but I wanted to be able to say that I am not being a hippocrite, that I am not just posting a bunch f BS, I mean what I say (um, type), and if for no other reason than to point it out to myself, I had to write these thoughts today!
Anyone in here familiar with our district and the situation?
