Give a man a fish….

Posted by Froggy on 30th April 2008

I found the following on another blog (http://blogs.weightwatchen.com/klw313/) here in weight watchen……and it’s a great one!  Kim’s really onto something here!

“Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to catch fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime.”

My version: Give a woman a plan to lose weight and she’ll get skinny. Teach her to deal with her food issues and she’ll stay skinny. Read the rest of this entry »

Posted by Froggy on 29th April 2008

Well, I didn’t make it to the gym after work yesterday…I drove home, picked up my daughter, and took her out for Chinese….she loved flirting with the cute boys who worked there….they just seemed amused!…She is such a cutie!

New beginnings in Lititz, PA

Posted by Froggy on 28th April 2008

There is a lot going on in the school district I live in lately.  It doesn’t have a lot to do with weight loss or the reasons why I am here but it certainly has a lot to do with a recent post of mine about being true to myself. Read the rest of this entry »

Sunday already…

Posted by Froggy on 27th April 2008

Thought for today:
Don’t compromise yourself. You’re all you’ve got.
~Janis Joplin (1943 - 1970)

Janis Joplin is far from my favorite singer from her era, in fact I don’t like her music at all.  But I’ve read a thing or two about her and I’ve seen those true Hollywood stories about her, and she was an interesting person.  Sure, she died young, but she did things her way, and didn’t allow anyone to talk her out of it.  I respect that.

I hope others see me that way.  I can compromise when it comes to certain things, but not when you’re talking about who I am, or what I stand for.  We all can learn something from her words I think.  A lot of women I know will mold themselves to what their husbands want them to be, or what their neighbors think they ought to be, instead of just standing up for who they really are.

I am going to make a true effort to be ME.

Carmie Leigh Shoemaker

Posted by Froggy on 26th April 2008

I wanted to write a short little tribute to a fellow band mom here in our school district.  She passed away this week leaving a daughter in tenth grade named Tia and her life partner LaRae behind…as well as others…I didn’t know Carmie that well at all but she was always involved in the marching band and was very good to all of our kids.  She will be missed by many and I thought it was only fitting to wish her well in Heaven and tell her here on the internet for the world around us to see that she touched a lot of people, some who she didn’t really even know.  She wasn’t afraid to live her life in a way that made her happy!

Godspeed Carmie…xo

This Prison Cell

Posted by Froggy on 25th April 2008

Quote for today:

I just gotta get out of this prison cell
One day I’m gonna be free, Oh!

~Freddy Mercury (Queen) - Somebody To Love

Released 12th November, 1976 - Spent 8 weeks on chart and reached number 2. Went Silver.

While I was working out last night I listened to this song on my iPod and this line hit home.  This is exactly what my body feels like to me.  A prison cell….I’ve been locked into this cell for all these years and finally doing what I need to be free.

Maybe it sounds corny but it got to me and I just had to share it with all of you this morning!

Things I’d Tell A Younger Michele

Posted by Froggy on 24th April 2008

I’ve been reading everyone else’s posts about talking to their younger selves and they are all very interesting.  There are things I would say to my 15 year old self and still other things to tell the woman I was at 32 and different ages in between.  I’ve been thinking about mine a lot so here goes….
