UPDATE update update! two 5k’s!

So… First Run… we got into Eugene around 7pm last night, checked into our hotel and watched a Law & Order Marathon for a couple hours while eating crappy food (BAD idea!) and waiting for our midnight run. We had fun, just dh, baby, and my friend Allison who was running with me. Allison and I headed out around 11pm to find the place where the run began, and check in. It was funny to look at some people who were dressed to the hilt, stretching and warming up hard-core, as if this were a marathon and not a 5k :-) I can’t believe how hard core some the the runners were either. Today we saw the best times and one guy ran it in around 16 minutes. That’s a 5 minute mile!

Anyways… we ran the first 5k together (in the dark!) and had a good time. We def. FELT the junk food as we were running, and decided maybe pizza an hour before wasn’t the best idea :-) Also I usually run 1st thing in the morning so this was a new experience for me since I’d been up since 7:30am! Anyway, I was pleased with our times… just under 33 minutes, a little less than an 11 minute mile… and considering I ran 12 minute miles in highschool, and I’ve been out of HS for 10 years.. I felt it was a good accomplishment! (pictures to come… for the 1st race, they’re on Allison’s camera. Scroll down for pictures of the race today)

So after getting lost (long story!) and arriving at our hotel around 2am… Allison and i slept here and there, in between dd ’s fun awakenings as she realized she was in the same room as us, and didn’t want to go back to sleep.. twice! (did that sentence make sense?) Needless to say this morning, we were tired!

!The run today was quite a bit different. Allison went on ahead alone, so she could push herself (at my request!) and get a good time. I was curious to see what a difference it made in my time when I was on my own. I was def. feeling the night before… little sleep, junk, and a 5k! I know I didn’t push myself quite as hard but I was only 1 minute slower… 34 minutes. And so, I feel good about today too!

This week’s scale reading: 152.4! Down .8 I’ll take it! After Christmas success!

Weigh-In!!

Today’s scale reading: 153.2

Well the damage wasn’t as bad as I feared…  up .2… could have been MUCH worse.  So I’m grateful for that! They re-checked my weight loss last week and there was an error somewhere in someone’s subtraction and i actually was down to 153.0 last week, and I technically had lost 15lbs!!!!! so now I’m back up to 14.8 and excited to see my next 5 lb star next week and possibly 10%! Woo hoo!!! (except I won’t be home on Christmas eve… not quite sure what to do about that… :-(  Maybe I can weigh in at the WW mtg. near my parent’s home…

I just visited a new blog today and found a quote that pretty much sums my week:

“The chief cause of failure and unhappiness is trading what we want MOST for what we want at the MOMENT.”

O… this is soooo true!

So today I commit to NOT TRADE what I want most (to be healthy, to be in shape, to lose my last 15lbs, to feel great about my weight in my next pregnancy, to wear size 8 comfortably, etc…) for what I want at the moment (a few sweets, a high calorie choice, social eating, etc).  The next two day are “girls night out” with my mom and sisters.  I know we can eat right and be successful and still HAVE FUN! Having fun does not have to center around food!

Weigh In TODAY!!!!!!

Today’s scale reading!!!: 153.2 (or 153.0… I can’t remember!)  DOWN 2.2!!! Woo hoo!!!

I’m having a hard time figuring out what my weight was today and last week.  I have a .2 lb discrepancy but either way, it’s close enough!!! I’m DEF. DROPPING DOWN!!

I can’t wait till I see 149.8 or below! That will feel like such an accomplishment!  My current mini-goal is to hit my 10%… before New Years but before Christmas would even be better!  It’s going to a tough next few weeks… but I will survive and keep dropping after the holidays! Hurray for caring and being on top of it! That’s so huge (for all of us out there that are working on losing!)

Weigh-in FINALLY!!

2 weeks ago Scale Reading 156.6

Today’s Scale Reading: 155.4   DOWN 1.2!!!

HURRAY!    I’m pumped to be down, as little as it may seem (I keep waiting to start TOM so I can lose this water weight!) and it feels good to be back at meetings, weighing in, and hearing good tips for the upcoming months!  I did a little research on the mini-pill I’ve been taking for birth control and one of the things I read today is that it can cause weight gain (ah!!) and also cause spotting or no menstrual cycle at all. THAT may be my situation! I don’t know what to think about that…. what happens to the monthly water retention etc…? I don’t ever start my period? Anyone know???  I’ve been blaming this stand-still on my upcoming period… but if it’s never coming, will I shed this “hormonal weight”?? (If that’s what it is…)  ANYWAY… I’m .4 lbs away from 15 lbs! Woo hoo!

Weigh in… Up :-( And right before Thanksgiving…

Today’s scale reading: 156.6

Well… I was right yesterday…. I am up today. But I have lots of good perspective!

1) I’m not in this for the short haul.  I will have ups and downs… but mostly downs.

2) I’m due to start my period on Sunday…. so I KNOW this affects my weight.

3) I could have been better this week.  I did great in the working out category, but poor in the eating category. So I can see where a gain was def. possible.

4) I didn’t officially weigh-in last week. I just did it on my mom’s scale because I was out of town.  Today when I weighed in at WW, I still lost 1.4 from 2 weeks ago! (Ha! If only they knew!)

5) I had some HUGE weight losses the last 2 weeks.  2.0 and 2.2…. so I knew a small loss, or even a small gain was possibly in my future.

The thing that’s tough is I want to do well at Thanksgiving… but also get to enjoy food and not feel completely deprived.  I’ve read a few other blogs out there w/ Thanksgiving suggestions… and I’m going to try those.  White meat, making Mashed Potatoes w/ broth instead of butter, etc…  I want to hit 15 lbs next week!!! So that’s a good motivation. My mom is going to bring some exercise DVD’s w/ her to the beach house we’re renting… so my goal is to workout all 3 days of our mini-vacation!

Today’s Scale Reading 156.2     Down 1.8!!!

I didn’t go to WW today because I was out of town… but I did weigh in at my mom’s house and her scale is fairly close/accurate compared to the scales at WW.  It’s the scale I started weighing on when I started WW on my own.  Down 1.8!! That’s a miracle… because I def. didn’t make the best best choices this week, tho I did stay w/in my flex points.  I’m pumped!  Here’s my food for today!

Weigh-in today… boy I wasn’t expecting this…! Welcome to the 150’s!!!!

Today’s Scale Reading 158.0!!! Down 2.2!!!!!!!!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!

I wasn’t expecting such a loss, especially after being down 2.0 last week and ESPECIALLY after this Halloween week! WOW! What an encouragement!

Yah! Hurray! Cool! Wow! Yipee! Woo hoo! How else can I say it? I’m pumped!

GRAND TOTAL SINCE I STARTED… 12 lbs!!!! I’m almost 1/2 way to my goal weight!

! Weigh-In today !

Scale reading: 160.2 Down 2 lbs!

Well.. the truth hit today! I headed in to WW to weigh-in (tho’ I’m going back tonight w/ a friend) and truthfully, I had weighed several times these past few days and I knew I was down, at least 2 lbs. So what I was really hoping for was to break in to the 150’s…. Why can’t we just be happy with a 2 lb!!!! loss… I had to hope for more and then allow myself to be disappointed. STUPID! Actually, I am totally thrilled with that loss! I am going to weigh again tonight, just in case, I weigh 4 ounces less! Ha… high hopes I’m sure… although I didn’t nurse right before, OR go to the bathroom… so you never know! (:

Anyways.. I am officially 10 lbs (technically 9.8) lighter than I was when I first started WW on my own. And that is a great!!!!! accomplishment! (go ahead… pat me on the back!) (:

Weigh-In

Weigh in: 162.0 Down .8

Well I think I am officially going to WI in the mornings, and then just go to the evening meetings with my friend. I feel better about my WI’s in the mornings, because it’s my true weight and I haven’t sabatouged it all day with food or even water. This morning the scale kept jumping between 161.8 and 162.2. The lady weighing me took the higher weight, I think she should have taken the middle… at 162.0.. so that’s what I’m calling it. Down. .8. Sometimes it’s discouraging to lose ounce by ounce but my mom reminded me that if I was just starting today I’d be 7 or 8 lbs heavier than I am now. So I need to just take each loss as a HUGE encouragement.

The other thing (ok this might be dumb!) is that I always forget to nurse right before my WI, and thus I wonder if I would be down more if I had. (Maybe I’m just trying too hard to manipulate that scale!).

Alright… that’s all for now… gotta go lay my little one down. She’s trying to type my post for me! (:

The same as morning, but after nursing… so that DOES make a difference. Ya!

weigh-in

Today’s Scale Reading: 162.8

I’ll take it! (: last night was so discouraging because I was up 2 lbs. I ate well and wrote down everything, in spite of some tough circumstances… being out of town and on the road so much. My leader asked me if I usually weigh in jeans and of course the answer’s no. Those suckers weigh 2 lbs just in themselves! Yikes. So I went back this morning and weighed again in my workout clothes (which is what I usually weigh in) and Woo Hoo! I’m down a 1/2 a lb. Better than nothing. I also am super sore from Group Power yesterday… and I know that when your muscles are sore, they are retaining water… I don’t know how much, but you never know… that might be an ounce or two as well. So… back on track and on my way down down down. I never want to see those numbers on the scale again! Each time I want to come back to WW with a smaller, smaller, smaller number.

Today at the meeting, someone was looking at the eating out guide… and said there’s a grilled chicken and broccoli dish at Ruby Tuesdays that has over 2,000 calories and over 100 grams of fat! YIKES! And it sounded healthy. I don’t remember what it was but if any of you out there have that guide, will you post a comment and let me (and others) know what that dish was? Talk about discouraging if you ever eat out and try to find the best choice! YIKES!

O and I’m also dropping back down to 31 points (the old WW way of determining your points) because I feel like maybe those 3 extra points sabotaged me. We’ll see how this week goes. Ok on to my food for today:
