Weigh In: Good news… a long time coming!

Posted by dnbarton on 2nd February 2008

Last week’s Scale Reading: 154.2 oops typo 152.4

Today’s Scale Reading 150.0  Woo hoo!!! Down 2.4! Finally! Break through!!! I am feeling it too!  And it feels great….

To re-cap… I have been stuck at/ fluctuating between… 152.4 and 156 since THANKSGIVING! It’s been a long time!  I knew CORE was what I needed this week.  I could just feel it kicking in!

Today I got my 16 week key ring and my 10% key chain so that was cool too! A fun way to really feel the success! (I had technically hit my own personal 10% last month… but I’m 2 lbs lower than my WW book since I lost it on my own before starting).  Grand Total on WW: 18  lbs… Grand total total: 20 lbs!!! That’s a great feeling! 10 more lbs before I will allow myself to start trying to conceive! That is soooo close! (:

Reflections on the Jan-Junk-Free Challenge

Posted by dnbarton on 1st February 2008

Me: Well… I honestly failed miserably in my own challenge. I have a lot to learn from it and that’s good. 1st of all.. I don’t do well when I tell myself I can have “NO” junk.. it tends to turn into an “all or nothing” battle. Once I eat one then I might as well just keep eating because I’ve def. blown the “nothing” part. That being said, it was so so so so so hard for me to not eat sweets. I would walk into WinCo and start drooling. At the dumbest stuff.. like a type of cookie I would never buy and would usually never interest me. My Junk Free Jan turned into a psycho sugar craving nightmare.

It’s amazing to me as I’ve spent the last 4 days on CORE.. that I’ve made contientious decisions to not eat junk,( besides my SF puddings (which I wouldn’t even allow myself during the JJFC)) because I don’t want to count the points for it, and NOT because I am depriving myself. I drink my sf hot cocoa and eat my sugar free puddings and for the most part, I’m content. And if I want to take a bite of a cookie, candy, etc… I can… and not go crazy afterward…. there’s no longer a need to eat the entire baggie! (:

Well that’s it… that’s my thoughts on all the reasons why I won’t be doing a Junk Free Challenge again… HOWEVER… that being said… there are other WW’s out there who found it very helpful to curb the crazy sugar fest they’ve been on. Either way… it’s def. a personal preference… each of you have to decide what works for you!

BigTickles says: that she has found the JJFC to be helpful… it helps her to choose fruits over sugary snacks… and when she starts on sugary snacks she just keeps going… so for her the JJFC was a good thing!

Jacquie says: Junk free January wasn’t junk free for me but still better than normal. I’ve began eating a yummy bowl of fruit in the mornings and yogurt for morning snack and I’m back at the gym again, this time with a personal trainer on Wednesdays. So it was good to go from lost to focused. Thats a big step for me so it wasn’t a waste of a month. I’m up for the next challenge.

Everyone else… didn’t offer an opinion in time to add it to this post! (: Happy February!

January Junk Free Challenge Draws to a close…

Posted by dnbarton on 31st January 2008

Well today is Jan 31 (I can hardly believe it!).

My Jan Junk Free… wasn’t entirely junk free…

but I have a lot of thoughts and conclusions that have come from the experience attempt and I’m hoping some of the other ladies who participated do as well…

tomorrow I will post a reflective journal and include anyone else’s thoughts… Hurray for February!

Ooops. I missed Tuesday!

Posted by dnbarton on 16th January 2008

Yep life’s been crazy!!

January-Junk-Free Challenge update…

  • Mom2three (Julie) had joined us! Ya for her! She needs a good jump start back on the wagon of weight loss! Stop by and encourage her if you can! :-)
  • Laura D: Ya for good choices! She managed to stay strong at her FIL’s house… something I have yet to manage! :-)
  • Kims_Journey (Kim): looks like Kim is doing great! Made it through homemade ch. chip cookies??!! woo hoo!
  • Me!  Going strong! (: Accidentally put some ch. covered pretzels in my mouth yesterday while I was babysitting for a friend… totally not thinking about the challenge, just about how many points it would be.  Suddenly I gasped, stopped, put the lid on and didn’t look back! Woo hoo for that! It was funny because I “caught” myself - I didn’t purposefully eat them (unlike Sunday  night) :-)
  • Boiler Chick: She by-passed the Choc chip cookies too! You ladies are on a roll!
  • Bonita (still thinkin about it???)

Well… yesterday felt like I totally blew it work-out-wise, because I didn’t work out… it makes me feel like I have totally messed up.. just missing one day! Weird huh?  So I’m not quite sure how I could possibly squeeze a real workout in today as I spent the morning getting a mini-van checked out (we might buy it so I took it to a shop to get looked-at); and the afternoon I’m babysitting until 5:30; then church is at 7 (prayer at 6)….  I’d LOVE to go run right after church, but DH has school and probably won’t be home till 11 - so there’s no one to watch baby…   Maybe I can do a dvd.. (NOT THE SAME… not even half as good of a workout!) I hate feeling like I’ve missed soo much!
