Not doing well..

Posted by dnbarton on 19th April 2008

I’ve been MIA. and mostly I think it’s a combination of “not doing well” and “super busy”.  My parents came to town on Thursday.  Since my dad’s heart attack he can’t do much so they figured they’d have a little get-away and enjoy their grandbaby. Having them in town didn’t help my  already faltering motivation. [sigh]

On a positive note, DH bought a scale yesterday. I will weigh tomorrow morning and face the music.   Even if I’m up, I now will have a scale to hold me accountable.  I dont’ have to blame it on waiting to weigh till I go to my mom’s house. So that’s good.

Ok. That’s all for now. Just needed a bit of accountability to get me back OP.

Good night! (:

I have an excuse…

Posted by dnbarton on 13th April 2008

a real one! I didn’t WI on Friday.  Honestly, I think it would have been a pretty depressing WI anyway, but I was planning on weighing for accountability and to get me back on track.   My excuse is legit… My dad had a heart attack Friday morning.  We were staying with my parents and so we ended up spending most of the day in one hospital or another… My dad is doing well.  He was actually at the hospital by the time he had the heart attack,  so PRAISE GOD he was in the best possible situation to have one.  Talk about the scariest thing I have ever witnessed… He will be coming home tomorrow after a very minor procedure that opened up his artery.  It’s amazing how modern medicine has elliminated open heart surgery in so many cases.

Anyway… it has been a weekend of unhealthy eating and my body can feel it. Sadly.

I don’t know when will be the next time I will be around a scale to weigh… so I am going to get focused and hope to undo the damage by the time I weigh next.  What a crazy week.

MIA

Posted by dnbarton on 9th April 2008

Here I am.

I have been MIA and I will continue to be for the rest of the week.

We are out of town for our Northwest Bible Conference and with seminars in the am and pm, I dont’ have much time for the internet.  I just checked my email and had 16 new ones! Yikes!  Needless to say, my mom, the one who always encourages me and partners w/ me on weight loss, has been a sabotauger this week.  She’s doing dinners so I can’t complain, but I am not eating the greatest.  I have been fine for breakfast and somedays lunch, others, she buys lunch ‘out’ and it’s not the best.

So that’s all for now! Just wanted to stop by and say hi to everyone… I’ll be back OP on Sat or Sunday. and I am still weighing this Friday, even tho I think I’ll be up a tad.  All the more work for me the next few weeks!

OP for the long haul!

Posted by dnbarton on 3rd April 2008

Today I was at the grocery store picking up some soda and the temptation  was sooo strong to buy some chocolate.  I have been eating some “here and there” the last week and I know I was starting to head down the “out of control” path… so today I said NO.  I grabbed an ultra healthy Strawberry Rhubarb muffin from Great Harvest and headed home. YA for me!

I kinda had a revelation today that I could have been at my (140 lb) goal by  now.  Sad. I know.

So I’m ready to set some new mini goals and really push till summer!  My lil’ sis is getting married August 10. That’s a great goal for me!  I want to look good in the bridal party so I’m pumped to (re) get going on this journey!  I know how to set realistic goals for myself so here I go!

By May 2 (family retreat) lose 5 lbs (weigh 145 lbs)

By May 30 lose 10 lbs total (weigh 140 lbs)

By June 27 lose 14 lbs total (weigh 136 lbs)

By August 1 lose 20 lbs total (weigh 130 lbs)  by Naomi’s wedding!

Allison…

Posted by dnbarton on 16th March 2008

Allison and I tend to mimic each other in our weight loss trends.  She does well, I do well.  I stop loosing/being serious… she stops losing/being serious. SO… today she posted that she’s back on track and I am seeking to join the fresh start!  We started this journey together, and I don’t want to get left behind in the dust of her weight loss! So tomorrow is a fresh day… actually, I did fairly well today (with one small exception) and I am going to jump back into CORE eating tomorrow, to jump start my new resolve.

I have done this before, and I can do it again.  My biggest problem is, I can’t fall off the wagon and just stop trying.  I  HAVE to get on, stay on, hang on by my fingernails if I have to… just not get off and give up.  Thats’ the worst pattern I can establish, especially since this is a “LIVE-IT” not a “Diet”… this is a lifestyle that I have to decide on, for life!

Ok that’s all for tonight.  I’m falling asleep at the computer!

**Side Note**

Posted by dnbarton on 6th March 2008

I wanted to make it a goal in Feb to try to post more often (and miss less days) than ever before.  I had noticed that when I started blogging in September, I only missed  7 days and in October, only 5. But it seemed to go downhill from there.  So in February, I only missed 4 days!! And at least 2 of those days, I had posted, but only saved the post, and forgot to hit publish, until the next day.  So I did quite well! Maybe March can be just as good or even better.  Although I’ve already missed 2 days because of forgetting to hit “publish”.  O well. The point is.. I think the more I post, the better I do.  I love the accountability.  Here’s my stats:

# of days missed:

Sept: 7        Oct: 5         Nov: 11

Dec: 10      Jan: 8          Feb: 4

CORE? Day 23

Posted by dnbarton on 19th February 2008

Here I am. Head hung down in shame.

Well… not really. I’ve been making some bad choices these past few days.  Simply choosing to not eat core, just for the sake, that I don’t want to. Hmmm….. how do I feel?  Not great.   I think I am a little burnt out on CORE foods and I need some variety.  Not bread, cookies, candy variety…. (which are some of the choices I’m confessing to…) but new healthy recipes and ideas, variety.  I am going to spend some time here in the next hour looking and writing down some ideas… and hopefully have success in the near future (NOTE: grocery budget was a little out of whack this week so I may have to start start fresh on Monday, because I have to simply live with the food in my house for the next couple days).

**February Freedom Challenge Update**

Posted by dnbarton on 18th February 2008

I did well this weekend.  Not perfect, no. But well.  My goal was to eat my F&V’s, drink  water, and work out at least once.  Well I ate 6/8 F&V’s (used to eat none on the weekends!), I drank 10/8 waters (used to be 4/8 or so), and I WORKED OUT TWICE! Ya!

How about you? How’s you do??
