I love me

Posted by dnbarton on 23rd January 2008

The “I LOVE ME” List

This was hard….

1. What do you absolutely love about your body? LOVE? Honestly, nothing. I suppose I like my legs because they have shape.  Can I say my hair? I do like my hair…. I guess I’d have to say my womanly figure. What I mean by that is that I do have an hour-glass shaped body (big chest) that does look nice when you can see the hour-glass (: That’s the goal right?? That you will be able to see my hour-glass one of these days!?! (: ( I don’t love my big chest, but I guess I love that my husband loves it (TMI - I know!))

2. When did you surprise yourself with your physical strength? Boot camp. I did an 8 week woman’s boot camp at my gym the months before I got married. The first week it was every day at 5am for an hour and a half. After the first day I could barely walk… and each day didn’t see much improvement (: It WAS however, the first time I ever ran 5 miles in my life… let alone 5 days in a row! (: After the first week it was only MWF, still and hour and a half…. but I saw huge changes in my body during those 8 weeks! I went down 1 whole wedding dress size, and truly felt amazing at my wedding

3. When were you braver than you ever thought you could be? I guess when I went through my miscarriage last year. It was a fear I had long before I was ever married or pregnant.. and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever gone thru. I learned a lot about reaching out to people as they grieve, and I also drew closer to God… I am grateful for those 2 things.

4. When did your self-control blow you away? Hmm… honestly, kinda cheesy but I think the day Allison and I baked all day and did soooo well! We didn’t graze or eat out of control at all (too bad it didn’t last the next day!) I’m sure there’s a deeper answer than this… it was just all I could think of at the moment!

5. What is your proudest moment ever? The day my daughter was born. What joy!

6. When was the last time you felt absolutely beautiful? absolutely beautiful??? like amazing?? I guess my wedding day. I’ve felt pretty and nice and all dolled up for various occasions, but nothing like my wedding…

7. Why do you deserve to meet your goals? For me: to feel good about myself. Confident and secure. For my dh: to have a sexy wife… not a mom that lets herself go and forgets that he is the most important person in my life! For my dd. and for my future children: I have enough problems with my joints (knees and wrists)… I don’t need extra weight to add to that. I want to be able to live long and enjoy my grandchildren someday… and I want to be a mom that can chase my kid on the playground, get down on the ground and wrestle, and just be a healthy example to me kids as well.

Ok… if you’ve read my list… it’s your turn!!! DO IT, YOU HAVE BEEN TAGGED!!!

Why does this feel so hard??

Posted by dnbarton on 23rd January 2008

I’m frustrated with the road block I seem to have reached.  I am not eating great… and my mind-set is just blah.  I seem to try each day… but obviously not hard enough.  I have been hovering around 153 for close to 2 months.  I know with Thanksgiving and then Christmas, it truly was about just getting by… maintaining.  But now?? Now I just don’t know what the deal is.  I wouldn’t say I’ve lost my motivation.  I’m still here.  Blogging almost daily.  I work out 5/7 days per week… It’s just that I seem to have lost some of my discipline. I think I may have burnt out slightly.  Today I ate big salad for the first time in (what seems like) a long time… it was torture.  I had to force myself to get out the lettuce, put it together, and eat it… all the while my brain was telling me I didn’t want it.. even when I was eating it I didn’t really enjoy it… it just tasted ug. to me.  I was on a roll in the past months of getting my fruit in by doing a apple, banana, manderine, splenda fruit salad.. and ever since manderines have kinda gone out of season, I haven’t been doing that either :-(

What’s the deal???

Here’s my food today.  Not really proud of it.  I seem to start well… just not ending the greatest…

Missing-in-action-Monday…

Posted by dnbarton on 21st January 2008

Well I was totally surprised when I logged on this morning and realized that I didn’t post Saturday or Sunday!  Then I was relieved to find a post I wrote Saturday, that I just didn’t post (only saved as a draft)… At least I didn’t totally drop off the wagon! :)  Actually yesterday was a very productive day with a solid 60 minutes of Step Aerobics with an upped intensity (I used 2 ‘bricks’ for most of the songs, instead of dropping down to 1 set when everyone else did!)  IT FELT GREAT!  We had Papa Murphy’s “Delite” pizza for lunch which was super yummy and I got to eat guilt free because they’re it’s half the points of regular pizza (My favorite food!) and I got all my water in as well!!!!!!!

Confessions of a junk food addict who was tempted terribly this weekend!

Posted by dnbarton on 21st January 2008

Im not entirely sure what happened yesterday… either way my flex points start over today, so Im just going to go with that!  I dont want to go back and figure points. Needless to say my mom has been a TERRIBLE influence on me, I ate that caramel apple empenada yesterday without a second thought… Until Bonita mentioned it in my comment! Oops! at least it was only half! Hmm… what next… then my mom had me bake brownies for my sister who was running late making dinner for her boyfriend… I vowed not to eat any… but STILL!!!!!  Then there was today, after dress shopping all day and eating a sack lunch we packed, mom decided to stop at 7-11 for a soda (o and a milky way candy bar for us 3 to split! (NICE, I KNOW!))… so after a bite of a milky way… i feel like a total failure… and GUESS WHO STARTED THIS WHOLE JUNK FREE JANUARY ANYWAY - ME!  (Well technically we should give BoilerChick the credit since she was my inspiration… does that let me off the hook -NO!) So… here I am, confessing, tho its the last thing I WANT to  do… but still determined to remain accountable!  sigh.

It’s almost Friday! Hurray!

Posted by dnbarton on 17th January 2008

1st of all… WELCOME! Big Tickles to the Junk-Free-January

Now there are 7 of us because Bonita has joined as well!! Ya for us!

well…another crazy day (isn’t there a limit to these?!?!) :-)

not bad crazy… just busy. My mom drove our new mini-van into town today… it’s fun to have a new vehicle.. even if it’s just new to us… and it’s GREAT to not have to bend over into the backseat of a 2-door car, to buckle my dd in her carseat! woo hoo!

I didn’t write down my food today but I had my mom add up my points for me as I went thru them outloud and I had 33 after dinner. I just ate an apple w/ a little pb for an additional 3 points… so my grand total is 36… -2 activity points =4 flex points. I got in all my f&v’s and milk.. and I think darn close on my waters, if not all.

That’s all for tonight!!

HURRAY TO ALL OF YOU WHO ARE CUTTING JUNK IN JANUARY! YOU LADIES ROCK!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! :-)

NOTE:  I have to quit doing pushups… ever since my pg w/ dd, I have had major wrist problems.  Today it was too painful to even get on my hands and knees.  SAD.  I must stop until I see a dr. and figure out what I can do to strengthen my wrist.. Today I did “flies” for my chest instead.

Ooops. I missed Tuesday!

Posted by dnbarton on 16th January 2008

Yep life’s been crazy!!

January-Junk-Free Challenge update…

  • Mom2three (Julie) had joined us! Ya for her! She needs a good jump start back on the wagon of weight loss! Stop by and encourage her if you can! :-)
  • Laura D: Ya for good choices! She managed to stay strong at her FIL’s house… something I have yet to manage! :-)
  • Kims_Journey (Kim): looks like Kim is doing great! Made it through homemade ch. chip cookies??!! woo hoo!
  • Me!  Going strong! (: Accidentally put some ch. covered pretzels in my mouth yesterday while I was babysitting for a friend… totally not thinking about the challenge, just about how many points it would be.  Suddenly I gasped, stopped, put the lid on and didn’t look back! Woo hoo for that! It was funny because I “caught” myself - I didn’t purposefully eat them (unlike Sunday  night) :-)
  • Boiler Chick: She by-passed the Choc chip cookies too! You ladies are on a roll!
  • Bonita (still thinkin about it???)

Well… yesterday felt like I totally blew it work-out-wise, because I didn’t work out… it makes me feel like I have totally messed up.. just missing one day! Weird huh?  So I’m not quite sure how I could possibly squeeze a real workout in today as I spent the morning getting a mini-van checked out (we might buy it so I took it to a shop to get looked-at); and the afternoon I’m babysitting until 5:30; then church is at 7 (prayer at 6)….  I’d LOVE to go run right after church, but DH has school and probably won’t be home till 11 - so there’s no one to watch baby…   Maybe I can do a dvd.. (NOT THE SAME… not even half as good of a workout!) I hate feeling like I’ve missed soo much!

Here’s my food for today!

One more person (Kim!) joined the Jan-Junk-Free Challenge…! Come on… we all know we need to do this. It’s just hard to commit. What’s 15 days??? Piece of [not cake….] It’s a piece of… Carrots? (: He he. My biggest challenge is that I tend to replace sweets with higher calorie choices, just to not give in to sweets (aka… the other day I chose doritoes when everyone else was having birthday cake). O well.. I have 15 days to perfect this science (:

True Confessions

Posted by dnbarton on 14th January 2008

P.S. (I’m putting at the top so people will see it! :-) )  COME JOIN US! Anyone else want to jump on the JUNK-FREE-JANUARY bandwagon?? There’s still 1/2 a month left! COME ON!!!

Ok…  Sunday started strong, but didn’t end so well… a friend of mine ended up in the hospital with an emergency appendectomy so I was there all night (till 4:30 am).  I had purchased some ch. covered almonds on the pretense that Dark Chocolate covered almonds are good for you and you should have 5 a day (I’ve read that several places…).  So I told myself that those Chocolate covered almonds weren’t bad. Well 1st of all they didn’t even have DARK chocolate, so of course I settled for Milk chocolate (and I haven’t read any studies lately telling us THIS STUFF is good for you! :-) )  Then I also ate some ch. covered pretzels on the pretense that I was tired and hungry and “it’s better than a candy bar”… [sigh]  But that doesn’t mean I’m OFF the no-junk-January bandwagon.  I jumped right back on and am back on plan! (and I’m proud of myself for confessing! :-) )  Here’s to a GREAT WEEK!!!!!!
