The Biggest Loser — were any of you shocked that it was the white team who got sent home? I wonder though, was it the editing or was Neill really that much of a slacker?

Best comment of the show: Mark saying something along the lines of, “If Neill holds onto the treadmill again, I’m going over there and taping his hands to the top of his head.” The mental image of that cracks me up.

Best part of the show: Me! I was working out while watching it and during the “last chance workout” really pushed myself harder than normal! Heck, if they were getting a last chance, I wanted one too! Felt great when I was done too.

Disclaimer — this is the first season that I’ve watched TBL. I think I saw a bit of a couple previous seasons (like part of one show once or twice), but I know many of you are fans.

I TiVo’d it and worked out while watching it today. Now, this is slightly sick for 2 reasons — one….I don’t have a treadmill in front of the TV, so I walk in place and/or do aerobics of some kind while watching. And, two, it seems to me a little crazy to watch TV about people trying to lose weight while I am working out. Does this strike anyone else as a bit lunatic?

I actually find it motivating to work out “alongside” the team, so to speak. Occasionally, I’ll even jog in place while Jillian is screaming at someone because I just feel her kicking my rear even through the TV.

I felt bad for the brown team, but I thought they were picked for some great reasons….the other teams thought they had learned a lot and could support each other and make a lifestyle change and stick with it. What a compliment! And, in the “after” segment, they look great and it is clear that they are feeling great and really making some wonderful changes in their lives.

And, I agree with some other comments that I’ve seen about the M&Ms…they did NOT contribute to the scale not showing a change in her weight this week. (Although I do think the producers of the show should’ve spent a minute or two talking about how much working out is needed to burn off the calories in the 210 calories, the 915 calories, etc.)

Neil….hmmmm….Neil, Neil, Neil. He was really irritating me and I was feeling really torn about his wife (is she really not seeing how little he is working?) but then after the conversation with Jillian, I don’t know. I think Jillian was amazing at recognizing that his non-commitment isn’t really about losing weight but about giving up his excuse for not being able to do something. I mean, really, I think a lot of us can empathize with that. If you are physically able to carry through on something, then what is your excuse? You need to either be able to say, “I don’t want to” or “I can’t” for whatever reason or you need to just do it. That requires a big life commitment to be willing to open yourself up to not being a people pleaser or confessing that you don’t want to do something (not because you physically can’t, but just because it isn’t a choice you want to make).

Neil will have to work extra hard to convince the other teams that he is serious from now on.

And, what about the yellow team? Do you think some of the teams voted for them because he ate the food? I don’t think so, what do you think?

Did you see Roni’s post “A Weight Watcher Maintainer Rant”? I wanted to add a couple of comments to her post but then I realized that I should just make it into a post on my own blog since it is turning into too much for just “comments”

I’m a lifetime member of WW (since August) and it is certainly not a “diet” — well, you can treat it like a diet and lose weight but you won’t make it to lifetime or if you do, you’ll return again later and pay to lose the weight again.
When people ask me why I’m weighing in and attending meetings every week (even though I don’t HAVE to), I say, well I found what works, why wouldn’t I want to keep doing it?
As to the “FLORE” program…I agree. I find that my best weight loss (and feeling the best about myself) was those weeks where most of my food was taken from the CORE list.
One of the complaints that I’ve heard about WW is that someone could eat their flex points in cupcakes and still technically be “on program” but I would argue that “technically” that wouldn’t be true. Your flex points are not truly your own — If you are following the Good Health Guidelines (GHGs), you will have to subtract at least 4 points (for dairy). Plus, maybe a point or two for fruit or veggies (depending on which ones you are eating).
I also have found that paying attention to the “fullness” signs of Core have really helped me on the flex plan.
I guess I was following the FLORE but didn’t know it. And, while there are some discussions at the meetings about exercise and making food choices that give you the most “bang for your (flex) buck” maybe WW should put more emphasis on both of those topics.

As for the Tummy Tuck…..people need to mind their own business! We all know the sagging skin doesn’t just get re-absorbed!

Hope you are all feeling well and staying OP!

Well with all the Christmas craziness I missed my WI last week. Then we celebrated Christmas on the 22nd with my brother, his girlfriend and his son, another celebration on the 24th with my husband’s brother, then our “official” Christmas celebration on the 25th with my folks (although my folks actually came on the 22nd and stayed through — which is a good thing). In addition, my husband and I took our 6 year old on her first ever trip to Disneyland. Can you say celebration overload?!?!

I think, overall, I made pretty good choices and tried not to go overboard on my favorites — both the sweets and the side dishes. On the WI this morning (Thursday, the 27th), I was up 1.5 pounds, but since I haven’t been counting points I was pretty happy with that.

And, thanks to Swizzlepop’s exercise challenge, I’ve actually worked out more this December than ever before (although I have yet to email her with last week’s numbers and this week’s too).

I hope you all had a very merry Christmas (if that is what you celebrate) and that you are back on track (if you got slightly derailed by the holidays) and are ready to start your new year with a good attitude and a great big jump back on program.

——UPDATE —— tried to post this on Thursday, the 27th, but the computer wasn’t letting me accomplish that. So, here it is and I’ll update later.

I love how emotional she is about the topic. Don’t you feel that same way? Every year, the same thing and feeling the same way. And this year? This is the year to be different. This is the year to actually make the change!

I’m at my WW goal now and I’m excited about finding and being at my own personal goal! I can’t wait.

I’m a bit disappointed in myself…I just haven’t had the self-discipline to PUT THE FOOD DOWN! I find myself mindlessly eating….and most of it is junk. I’m not hungry, I either pick up the food that is sitting around and pop it into my mouth or sometimes I just want to have a party in my mouth (as I remember Dr. Phil talking about when he did his big weight loss program/series).

But now that I’ve confessed that, I’m going to go brush my teeth and STOP MYSELF!!!
