Planned Splurge!

Since I’ve been doing so well at avoiding the fast food during the last week and a half, I made a planned splurge today. I went to Panda Express — but I did it the smart way. I looked up all the nutritional info on the website before going. Planned out what I was going to order and then divided it into 2 “meals” when I got home.

So, instead of a 19+ point meal (with orange chicken, beef & brocolli and chow mein), I got a 8 point meal for today (chicken & mushrooms, part of the beef & brocolli & a small scoop of the chow mein), and another 8 point meal tomorrow (chicken with green beans, the rest of the beef & brocolli and another small scoop of chow mein). I’m so proud of myself for planning what to eat before ordering it.

Also, the last time I ate an entire plate of food from Panda Express, I was STUFFED! I mean, really, uncomfortable. This time, I was satisfied but not stuffed.

And, I learned something new — it used to be that the “side” options were white rice, fried rice or chow mein, but now they’ve added “veggies” to the side options. So, next time I’ll just get half of the chow mein and get half veggies. Because while I truly enjoy the chow mein, I don’t really need 2 servings of it (12 points for the 2 servings! (which I figure really should be at least 3, if not 4 servings worth)) and I can always use the extra veggies.

It has been a rough couple of super-snacking, munchie days. So, hopefully, that is behind me and I can move forward and stay on track.

Struggling with snacking

I’ve been doing really well at just driving by the drive-thrus!

But, I just snacked away the entire afternoon. I wasn’t hungry for dinner so I didn’t do too badly on points for the day. But, sheesh, did I really need a WW ice cream, a couple of cookies, a handful of cheetos (which weren’t very good and I threw out the rest of them — that counts as a major accomplishment in my mind), and a couple handfuls of dry cereal?  

So, I’m off to bed before I eat anything else this evening!

Better than it could’ve been

Okay, so I did avoid all the fast food yesterday. BUT, I opted for a 8-point pot pie (you know the frozen Banquet ones? They SCREAM comfort food to me — we’d have them once in a while growing up and they were always a treat!) and then had a small handful of cashews, and a cookie, then another cookie and another small handful of cashews. So I used 10 of my FPs which isn’t bad, but it was my first day of the week! Now, I know some of you like using all your FPs at the beginning of the week, but I typically save mine for the end. Now I’ll have to be a bit more careful during the week.

Other good things: I went to a new Bible Study last evening and I was a bit concerned because the last time I went to an evening study, there was an abundance of food every week. And, I’m not talking about carrots and dip and/or fruit. There was cakes, cookies, doughnuts and chocolate (because you know, of course, that chocolate is next to godliness). However, at this study — no food! And, it is taught by a mother/daughter combo who are both in WW! The mom is now a lifetime member and the daughter has lost 75 pounds! So, they won’t be bringing or encouraging snacking on Monday evenings. But I’m sure we’ll all be drinking our water. I am SOOO excited because if the food was right there, I would indulge!

And, I woke up this morning, motivated and ready to go. Did great today — hit my target but didn’t feel the need to eat any APs or FPs. And, I’ve been doing well at hitting my goal of 7 fruits and veggies every day. Even if I don’t get them all, I’m more focused on them so I’m getting them more and more often.

Better snacking choices!

So I went to the store — avoiding all the fast food places — and bought some Lean Pockets and WW ice cream bars. So, now my “splurging” will be on something that I can contain in my points and these should help me stay away from the fast food while DH and the older girls are gone.

I’m excited about having a plan and making better choices for a healthier me! And not letting this time de-rail me from my journey to health!
