Huge Disappointment

Posted by desertmama on October 18th, 2007

What a let down. It turns out that my WW leader was wrong. They won’t let me keep coming to meetings while I’m pregnant. It turns out it is a liability issue — in case something would happen to the baby the company is concerned that someone would end up suing. Okay, I understand that we live in a crazy sue-happy society, but, come on! I was really counting on the WW meetings to keep me on track during this pregnancy. My leader said that she’d check with her manager again (so I can at least eke out one more week) but that I probably won’t be able to come again after that. Sigh.

On the plus side — you know I went out and bought size 10 maternity jeans. I thought they looked pretty good and I had to safety pin up the sides since my tummy isn’t very big yet. Well, after a day or two of wearing them, I realized how silly it is — they truly are too big. So, for what is virtually the first time in my entire life (at least as far back as I can remember) I’m wearing a size (drum roll please) 8!

[Okay, I did buy one outfit for our honeymoon (almost 13 years ago) that was a size 8, but it was tight and I think I only wore it once or twice and then it was immediately too small.]

But, these — wow! My legs look skinny in them (well, compared to what they used to look like). And, I still have a safety pin in the waist so I should be able to wear them for the next couple of months at least. I can’t wait to see what size I end up at in a year or so!

So, that’s the good and bad news in my life. I hope you all are doing well and staying on track!

    Don’t worry you have us!

I heard a lot of people move to core when pregnant. I can’t remember what plan you do, sorry.

Anyway, congrats on the baby and on the lifetime! WOW things are happening! :~)

I know it sticks that we can’t go to meetings. Core is good for trying to eat healthy while pregnant. That is the program I do & I have recipes on my blog as well if you’re interested.

as i was reading the comments about core, i had to add another one…i just switched to core, and it’s not that bad!!! granted, i’m still in my first week of figuring it out so it may be still new/fun to me, but it hasn’t been bad. i think there’s more prep work involved (or maybe it was just too easy while doing flex to grab something quick), but i’m enjoying it. if you’re not sure about switching, just read the boards for the core plan on ww.com. i did that for a few days, and i’m still doing it…lots of ideas for yummy foods!

congrats on the pregnancy and i hope it goes well for you!!!

Congrats on the baby……don’t worry you know how to work it and you will be fine!! Not to mention you have lots of buds who will be with you every step of the way!!

    Congrats on the 10’s!!

Oh my gosh! I didn’t know you were pregnant! I’m trying so hard to keep up on blogs…and finding very little time to do so! CONGRATS!!!! Especially on getting through the first trimester. That’s always a load off! Is it your first? I’m pregnant too! 6 weeks with my second. My first is 11 mo. They’ll be 20 mo. apart. Can you say busy at our house? Anyway, I’m not counting points anymore and trying to stick to mostly Core foods. Except for the teachers lounge snacks that I allowed myself to indulge in today, I’ve been doing pretty well. I just gain weight so so so easily. It’s very frustrating. Anyway, CONGRATS to you!!!

First off congrats on the size 8 maternity jeans! That is great!
Second, I think everyone who is PG or hopes to be soon who is/was on WW should petition to get them to start a PG program. They have something for nursing moms so why not PG? It’s not like they would lose money, they would totally cash in!

I understand the liability issue but what if you signed a waiver or got a note from your doctor?

I’m totally with you all on this one! I can’t believe they won’t let pg women stick with the meetings. It seems almost hypocritical, considering their whole platform revolves teaching people to make healthy changes for LIFE. Uh, isn’t pregnancy a part of life? I don’t know about the rest of you pg gals out there, but NOW is when I need the help and support the most! I’m just glad to have all you bloggers out there! :o)

Just remember that you’re not really “eating for two” its only a few hundred extra calories that you need. You’ll be fine! :) You can always re-join afterward! :D A lot of parenting magazines have tips on how to stay in shape while pregnant (I’ve learned a lot due to my two dear sisters).

    Best Wishes
