Chillin’ Sunday

Here is my menu for today.  Not the greatest.  I had a late heavy breakfast.  I went to visit the BF afterwards so I loaded up with breakfast since he doesn’t have much food at his place. 

I have lots of fruit, veggies, pepperoni/salami and cheese at home because of leftovers from the Baby Shower I hosted for my friend yesterday.  I will for sure be eating up the veggies.  I have lots of carrots, though.  Any ideas what to do with carrots besides eating raw?  Thinking of carrot soup.

I have packed my lunch for tomorrow.  Yeah, me!  Hoping to be focused with eating and work.  I didn’t do much work or studying this weekend like I should have.  Friday I did study.  Saturday I was busy with the Baby Shower and went to visit a friend in the evening, and today the BF unexpectedly decided to hang out…how could I say no? :-)

Thursday

Hi everyone.  Still am not consistently tracking my points but at least I’m here.  Been trying to catch up at work from being sick.  Also been putting all extra time into studying.  My manager has been pressuring me to finish.  I’m hoping just 3 more weeks or so of studying then I take the 4 4-hour exams. 

Also filling in where I can the planning of my friends baby shower that I am throwing on Saturday.  I’ve delegated all the pre-event day activities and now I have to go tomorrow and buy all the food.  Planning to have fruit, veggie platters and some other snack foods.  The shower will be from 2-5pm so don’t have to have a full meal for everyone.

Tired so going to bed now…  This chapter that I am studying is just not clicking.

MIA and Weigh-In

I’ve been MIA…but here I am now. It has been a crazy two weeks. It has been full of life, personal, physical and financial challenges. And I let that get in the way of focusing on my blog journey. It was all just too overwhelming and hitting one after the other for me to think about blogging or journaling my food.

Thanks to all of you that have checked in on me. I have had less time to check up on everyone and I know many of you have too but it’s sad to see when you get less comments. Some of the people that blogged here when I started have stopped or don’t blog as often and I haven’t had time to make many new friends.

I got over the cold I had during my birthday but that didn’t last very long. My brother got sick Sunday, April 13th and then I got sick AGAIN! :-( This time it was worse. I left work at noon on Thursday to rest because I couldn’t work. Friday I didn’t go to work either. I had a fever and the fever went through Saturday. The doctor said I didn’t have an infection or strep throat but my throat was killing me. I couldn’t swallow without it REALLY hurting. I was sick all weekend and right now I am just hoarse and coughing up all the mucus still in my system (I know, TMI).

Getting sick like this is very rare for me. The BF cancelled his appointments on Friday to take me to the doctor. On our way to the doctor, though, a bad thing happened…my car stalled…so I didn’t make it to the doctor. I ended up going the next morning. It sounds like it might be the gas pump that gave out. Not a good time for this to happen. 1) I have expenses that I am still trying to cover 2) Have the family coming in two weeks for my brothers graduation 3) will have many more expenses then.

I could go on and on but I won’t… I miss the community and I do have to say that I am bummed that right now I don’t have much time and won’t have time to transition to the new community. It is going to take a LONG time for me to copy and paste nine months of work… :-(

On a brighter note: I weighed in today at 220.0, down 3.5 pounds from where I was last week (223.5). I have to say that the loss is from me not eating as much this last week while I’ve been sick. Hope to stay here and keep losing from here. I am right around where I was a month ago before going to the reunion.

Today was a hellish day to say the least.  I stayed within points but one of the reasons is because I was too busy to remember to eat. 

Still feeling like sh*t.  I am going to the doctor on Friday to see if I have allergies.  I have been coughing up a storm, my eyes just ache, and I have a terrible sinus headache.  I was super cold all morning so I didn’t take my coat off all morning!

Off to take a hot shower and go to bed.  Tomorrow is a new day…

Birthday blah

Birthday didn’t go as planned.  The BF had something come up that I don’t want to get into and he was too stressed to separate his issues and my birthday celebration…so he decided to go into his cave and not get together tonight.  I was so disappointed that I skipped dinner and just had a snack bar.  I almost didn’t have that since I just wasn’t in the mood but my body was hungry and I figured it wasn’t my body’s fault what was going on.

Other than that the morning went well because I did meet up with the BF then and I had lots of calls, texts, e-mails, and pokes on Facebook congratulating me.  I am lucky to be surrounded by my friends and family…

Also, Jamba Juice was giving away free smoothies promoting their new Breakfast blends.  Well, what I had was super yummy but a freaking 9.5 points!  Ouch!

Happy Birthday to me!

I have so much to write since I’ve been MIA in a few days.  So here goes…

First off, today is my official Tuesday weigh-in.  I didn’t give myself a good birthday present…I came in at 223.3 lbs, .5 pounds up from last week.  Not a lot but I should be going down instead of up.  I know that although I didn’t eat too much last week (mostly) it was sodium packed.  I ate more processed food and ate out more than normal since we were low on groceries and I wasn’t feeling too good. 

From a goals perspective I wasn’t great BUT I had some NSVs and did some good things. 

Saturday I went out for a walk so I got some exercise in!!  I had a friend’s birthday party in the evening.  She had picked a chocolate bar for dessert/drinks at a fancy hotel.  I totally said no to the chocolate bar and solely had one chocolate martini the whole night!  AND, I didn’t feel deprived.  Not only did I do that but I cooked dinner so that we had a good/light meal before her party.  I made some butternut squash soup, tilapia with homemade black bean salsa and some whole grain rice. 

On Sunday it was a slightly different story. :-)  I did limit myself to just two chorizo tacos that my brother made for breakfast, or more like brunch.  We were watching the Food Network and craved Korean food so we went to a local Korean BBQ restaurant.  Well, they served the three of us TONS of food.  We were stuffed.  BUT, that was lunch/dinner and we went for a good 1 1/2 hour walk afterwards to digest the stuff!!  We went to a park by the house and played on the swings, slide, etc. 

The NSV there was that I actually felt good sitting on the swing and felt quite okay playing on the other games there.  My hips weren’t hanging out of the swing and the swing wasn’t hurting cuz I was tight in it.  I could not believe it!  The feeling gave me such confidence. 

Yesterday I didn’t do so bad.  I packed my lunch and actually ate 1/2 of what I packed for lunch first then a few hours later the rest.  That also made me feel good…I’ve been getting back to eating larger portions and I prefer to eat more through out the day than all at once….it is also better for my metabolism. 

This week I have people wanting to celebrate my birthday so the eating part is going to be hard.  Tonight I meet up with the BF, Thursday with a friend, and Saturday I have a birthday party with friends.  I didn’t pick the best WW-friendly restaurant but I haven’t had this in a LONG time.  We are going for Crepes.  They sell meal crepes and dessert crepes.  YUM!  Can’t wait!  We are then going to watch a movie afterwards.  The Latino Film Festival is in town so we are going to catch one of the movies.

Friday

Being accountable and putting out here what I ate yesterday.  Not wonderful but don’t want to lose the momentum of posting. 

I stayed home to work and by 2pm I had a terrible sinus headache.  I didn’t have great food all day…I didn’t even get to eat until 10:45am!  Logged off around 2:45pm.  Had dinner later with the BF and then just stayed in the rest of the evening.  Not much activity.

Just calculating what I ate yesterday now… :-(

Yucky sinus headache at end of day

I’m not feeling so hot right now.  During the busy day at work I forgot I was sick but then when I got on the bus to head home my body started to relax and remind me that I am fighting a cold and I got a terrible sinus headache.  I came home and the last thing I wanted to do was cook a healthy dinner.  I was busy all day and I didn’t take lunch so I ate today and didn’t count points until now. 

I caved in at work in the afternoon.  I went to the coffee station and someone had had a baby shower and they left a slice of cake there for people to take.  I took half of it. :-(

Not the best of days but I did manage to get some activity in in the morning and at lunch when I went to grab lunch.

Got in my exercise

Short post because I have work to do before heading to bed.  Feel like I never went on vacation…busy work life is back again! Ugh!

A few good things…I got 3 APs today!!  I walked again in the morning to work.  I’m getting a cold so I stopped at the Walgreen’s that is a little further from work before getting to work so I got a 10 minute walk in in the morning.  In the evening my brother picked me up from work so I got home a little earlier than usual so I took a 30 minute walk by the lake.  It was such a great feeling to put on my workout clothes and go outside instead of doing the usual cooking, eating, and sitting in front of the computer to work or study or just check out the blogs.

I had leftover chicken curry for lunch.  I will post the recipe sometime this week.

New Quarter = Renewed focus

It is the beginning of a new quarter so I am starting today with a renewed focus now that I have reviewed the first quarter of the year.  My morning started with an extra walk to work.  I got off the bus several blocks before my stop like I did in the summer/fall last year and got 2,200 steps!! 

In my official weigh-in post from this morning I committed to doing several things to get back on track to my 10% so I am going to track them here every day.

I caught myself during lunch looking for a candy for dessert.  It was amazing to stop myself knowing that I am on a junk free challenge.  See, that is what I need to stop my bad habits…a challenge.  I ended up having some hot berry tea = 0 points!

Although I didn’t hit 7,000 steps I walked a little extra to work in the morning and ran an errand during lunch so I am going to take that.  As long as I am active, I am happy.
