Daily Food Journal Tables
The question of the day is…
How do I get one of the snazzy Tables for my food journal?
Well it’s Easy! It’s only an HTML table organized in a nice way to display food and “diet units”. If HTML scares you NO WORRIES! You can copy and paste. If you don’t know how to copy and paste click here for a quick lesson.
Before we get into the table instructions, the first thing you want to do is make sure you have the visual editor turned on in the “write post” window. To do that…
- Log on to your blog admin
- Click on “users”
- Click on “your profile”
- Check the “Use the visual editor when writing” check box
- Click “update profile”
Now when you go to write a post you will two tabs, “visual” and “code”. To copy and paste the tables you want to be in visual.
Ok, now that we have the correct set up and you know how to copy paste it’s simple!
Here is a sample table like the one I’m using now.
| Morning Weigh In or Daily Target Area | |
| Food | DU |
|---|---|
| Type a description of you food here. Get as detailed as you want. Include links to recipes if you have them for your readers. | 2 |
| Totals | |
| Daily Activity Log | |
|
Post what you like here |
|
Here is a more detailed one in case that’s you cup of tea.
| Daily DU Target | 24 | ||||
| Food | DU | Countdown | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Type a description of you food here. Get as detailed as you want. Include links to recipes if you have them for your readers. | 2 | 22 | |||
| Totals | |||||
| Day 1 in Week - Weekly DU Remaining: 35 | |||||
| Check off your waters √√√ | |||||
| Activity Log | |||||
Simply copy one of the tables above and paste it in your post window (under the visual tab).You can really do anything you like with it. It’s just HTML. For a tutorial on HTML tables click here. If you would like to edit the HTML just click the code tab.
NOTE: I’m using Diet Units (DU) because not all of our members follow the same plan, some do WW some count calories, etc. You can even leave that whole column out if you just want to journal what you ate and not calculate anything.
So now you have what you need to make your own daily food journals!
I hope that helps! Comment any questions you may have!

You are the BEST. Thank you! Although I did check out the page on HTML tables and it scared me a little. Looked a lot like gibberish…I am pretty good on computers, but not at anything like that.
Oh thanks so much Roni, you’re an angel
xxx
Thanks!! Been wanting to look into how to do this! I’ll look into it tonight when I post my points. You rock!
This is awesome! I’ve been wanting to use a table…thanks!!!!!!!
Thanks, Roni!! You rock! This has baffled me
I use a Mac powerbook. I think our settings are different than a PC. When I go to write a new post, I don’t have the option of tabs “visual” or “code.” I’ll keep working on it, but I think the Mac computers work differently…
I don’t think it’s the MAC it’s Safari. Do you have Firefox on your MAC? I think it may work there. I’ll do a bit more research when I get back from vacation.
that makes sense. i’m sure it’s safari. there are other web sites that don’t run right with safari. I’ll look into firefox- THANKS!!! not just for this, but for all you do!
Thanks for the detailed instructions!
Thanks for the advice. I am an amateur, so it helps a lot!
I am having trouble with the this . I’m using safari
Thanks for this!
I’m far to lazy to type in HTML code!!
I am new at a lot of this computer stuff so I have a silly question. I copied like you said and then just saved it as a draft. Is that what you had in mind or is there a better place to save the food table?
I’m going to try this tomorrow. I love how neat and organized it makes all yoru entries look. Thanks for posting the instructions!
