Learn to love Exercise…

How do you learn to love exercise? I have not done any exercising since last summer. I think about it daily, but can’t get up the motivation to exercise. A ww member & co-worker came into my office yesterday and was telling us how much she loves to exercise and she wishes she could live at the gym. She loves to sweat. Why can’t I feel this way about exercise? I know my problem is there are too many other things that take priority in my life. Sleep, playing with digital scrapbook files, cooking for my family, watching my tv shows, and working. There just doesn’t seem like enough hours in the day. Can you tell I am really good at making excuses? My other problem is I really can only workout at home. Mine & my husband’s schedule just do not match real well and so it would be hard for me to find time to leave the kids and go exercise. So therefore, it means getting up really early to exercise or waiting until they are in bed.

I know as soon as the weather gets nicer I will be going for walks at night, but again I have to take the kids most of the time and we know how much exercise we get in when you have to cater to kids.

I am going to try and post my Food journal and weigh in. So here it goes for today.

  1. I hate exercising. What I love is the feeling I have once I’m done exercising. I feel strong, I feel fit, I feel like I can do anything. Get some workout DVD’s that look fun or maybe invest in an elliptical or treadmill if you can only workout at home. I don’t know how old your kids are, but you might also be able to find a gym with a day care. (The LA Fitness I go to has a day care.) Try to make working out as fun and interesting as possible, but like me, you may never learn to love it. Your motivation may have to be the result of exercise, not the exercise itself.

  2. For some reason I have always loved to exercise. I always feel good after. I don’t do it as much as I want to. I know how hard it is to find the time. I think you just have to make the time and tell your self that you have to exercise. Like it is one of your daily task you have to get done. A lot of times I just force myself to get on my bike. You can always do some sit ups of other exercises while you are watching your shows. I have some hand weights that I will lift sometimes while I watch T.V. That way you can feel like you are doing to things at once. Or turn on a movie for the kids and lay down on the floor and do some exercises. Just some ideas.
    We need to get together and practice for our 5k. I walked it the other day for the first time since Fall and I was so sore after.
